Talk:Bakuran

Back to page

If the Bakurans are just humans from Bakura, and not a distinct near-human species or subspecies, is this article strictly necessary? Or should we follow it up with articles on Corellians, Tatooinians, etc., etc.? (Of course, even sufficient cultural differences would be sufficient to count for a seperate article -- take Lorrdians or late-period Mandalorians for example.) Silly Dan 19:53, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • Yeah, was a bit of an experiment and maybe not the best place to start. But it would help us keep the material spread out, as many articles still have the restricted feel of Star Wars articles on Wikipedia. In the case of Corellia, the article should be about the planet, its characteristics and history. Corellian should cover the culture, society, characteristics and history of the humans that live there. And so on. --SparqMan 20:06, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
    • Oh no, I'm turning into one of those nasty Wikipedian deletionists! 8) Seriously, I'd prefer to see information on the human population of a planet in the article on that planet, unless that article gets too big. Then some of that information could be moved to a new article. I can't see this happening with Bakura, but for Corellia or the Corellian system, a separate article on Corellian humans would probably be a good idea. Even a list of famous Corellians would contain more info than my piddly stub on Povanarians. (This would work much like the way Wikipedia redirects Canadian to Canada, Nigerian to Nigeria, and so on, but has added specific articles which go in depth on Canadian music, Nigerian history, etc. due to the wealth of information available.) • But the circumstances with a country and it's people is different, and even those lines are blurring. In the Star Wars galaxy, we have the advantage of knowing the precise home of most species. A Duros may have been born and raised on Chandrila, but we know that we aren't speaking of him when we talk about Chandrilans (he'd be a Chandrilan Duros, I guess). If this were Wikipedia, I would agree with you that the details should be kept in the planet article, but with an entire Wiki focused just on Star Wars, we should capitalize on the space and specificity we have available to us. For the time being, it's not too important, as we've got a lot of content to fill in yet, but at the same time, a section on Bakurans on the Bakura page may stiffle the expansions that may occur on an individual page. --SparqMan 20:44, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
      • Maybe I'm confused, but I don't see why putting a section on Bakurans on the Bakura article would discourage people from expanding it. Silly Dan 02:54, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)
