TimelineEdit

Okay, there a several different dates for this battle. The most recent source, the Essential Guide to the Force places it at 44 BBY on its timeline. This doesn't seem to be a printing error as this date is supported by at least two other entries in the Guide. I'm not through yet, but this is what I noted:

  1. According to the EGTTF, Komari Vosa "perished" on a mission to Baltizaar in 39 BBY. Since she participated in the battle, it must have taken place before her mission. (p 109 + 137)
  2. In his speech to the Jedi before his renouncement from the Order in 32 BBY, Dooku says Galidraan happened 12 years ago. (p. 136-137)

So, what's the main problem with this date? What continuity errors would emerge from it? --Borsk Fey'lya Talk 10:52, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

  • The continuity error that arrives is that Vosa is supposed to have been denied knighthood because of Galidraan, and then impetuously gone off on the mission to Baltizaar. A five year gap between them is ridiculous. But most importantly, it contradicts the actual source, where it quite explicitly states Galidraan as being "twelve years before Geonosis" - 22+12 = 34. The EGTTF confused Naboo and Geonosis dating, and hence screwed the whole thing up. QuentinGeorge 11:23, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
    • I see. And there is no way the original source could have been retconned by the EGTTF? Btw.: I just found a post by Leland Chee from 2003 in which the states that Galidraan took place 22 years before Geonosis. --Borsk Fey'lya Talk 12:11, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
      • Leland isn't always right. Dating it in 44 BBY screws up a whole lot of character timelines, particularly someone like Antidar Williams who now has two totally separate events in his life, separated by "years" now squeezed into the same year. It simply can't work, and I'll be disappointed if the holocron is the source of this screw up. QuentinGeorge 09:33, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
      • As a side note, this book also misdates the Baltizaar mission, which should be in 33 BBY. QuentinGeorge 09:36, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
        • Could it be, that in Cestus Deception (p. 212 paperback) where Sheeka says she was 18 and Jango 25, she talks about their age at separating, not at meeting? If so, they met 42 BBY and Jango was searching for a new armor after Galidraan. In this case 2 sources say the same (Galidraan 44 BBY) and one of them is the latest and the newest. Maybe the Open Season has the error. Williams could be easely retcon by deleting the word "years" by Leland, if he would see it. Komari Vosa can be done also easily. The five years is ridiculous only if she hadn't done something between. There could be a crash landing somewhere else or something like that of we have no information. Or she was fighting for some years on Baltizaar before perishing. Is somewhere mentioned that Vosa leaved the Order briefly after Galidraan? So I vote for 44 BBY. Morrt 00:08, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Timeline mk 2Edit

Discussed in the BTS, but I'm changing the assumed date of Galidraan because of a couple of recent sources citing 44 BBY, and continued lack of support for the 34 BBY date. Yrfeloran 05:49, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Go ahead sabarte. I was actually going to go on your talk page and tell you to do that. *sigh*...why must errors appear in EU due to clumsiness and then get reinforced due to absurd reliance on the holocron? Ah well... QuentinGeorge 06:22, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
  • But by the same token, you're reinforcing the mistake by slavishly adhering to the holocron and subsequent erroneous sources. How about ignoring the error and going with the correct date? Does that not make more sense? 72.80.168.222 00:35, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
    • From context and plot, it seems to me that the initial source was the erroneous one (this does happen). There's not enough time for Jango and Vosa's plot arcs to be plausible, and characters change dramatically in appearance. Yrfeloran 17:22, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Qui-Gon was there? Edit

Or who's the man saying "What have we done...?" in the comic, last panel of the battle-flashback. Is he Qui-Gon or someone else?

  • It's Dooku, and sign any posts with four tildes (~) Dangerdan97 22:27, January 15, 2010 (UTC)

Number of Mandalorians Edit

I think its fair to estimate that as it is canonically stated that one Padawan out of the 20 Jedi killed at least 20 Mandalorians, there wes an extrapolated figure of about 300 Mandalorians. Apparently, that was the statement of Leland Chee as well.217.23.231.7 15:02, January 18, 2010 (UTC)

I agree it's ridiculous to say that there were only about 21 True mandalorians Te Shukalaryc Mand'alorJaingHead.svg 18:15, January 26, 2010 (UTC)
