- In the modern Clone Wars show the lightsabers do not emit bubbles when underwater. In the original Star Wars: Clone Wars Kit Fisto's green blade is buried in the globes of steam running off of that thing. But what about the Young Jedi Knights: Crisis at Coral Reef book? Did they ever make special mention of lightsabers boiling the water around the energy beam? Enjoy the new talk page!99.188.36.80 20:12, January 18, 2014 (UTC)
- Well, it is possible that they did. Talkpages are not necessarily the best place to ask questions such as these however. The Knowledge Bank is a better place to ask. You can access it here: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Forum:Knowledge_Bank, or, simply visit our Forums. LIGHTNING12345678910 (talk) 20:17, January 18, 2014 (UTC)
Dark Forces speculation[]
I've played through the Kyle Katarn games many times, and always try to read whatever I can find on him, but I don't remember anything mentioning that a bifurcating cyclical-ignition pulse being the reason why the lightsabers work in water. And I also just picked up a few of the Young Jedi Knights books at a garage sale a couple weeks ago, and I didn't see a bifurcating cyclical-ignition pulse or anything there either. Cilghal said that she constructed her lightsaber properly, which makes sense if Kit Fisto left a message in a holocron which later taught Luke Skywalker and his students how to build waterproof lightsabers, but in the Kyle Katarn games, he was not yet a full student of Luke's, and wouldn't have known about how do do that. Qu Rahn might have learned that from Kit Fisto or someone, but I don't think I've seen that anywhere. Hopefully some of the next Star Wars blog posts can talk about some of the Dark Forces storyline and how those lightsabers worked underwater, but without some bigwig at Lucasfilms making the connections, shouldn't the Katarn mention be removed, as it can be misleading, especially to someone like me who loves playing as Kyle Katarn. - Ironically that's precisely why I put it there. It's why it's in behind the scenes and not as part of the main body. It's unconfirmed material, which is just what it is. However, it is still notable to mention that those sabers were able to work underwater, though we don't know if it was the crystal or anything. Kyle is my favorite strictly EU character too (Boba Fett's my favorite overall), and I remember it being quite a testament when you got to slice through monsters and enemies under the water in Dark Forces II --Geekius Maximus (talk) 04:42, March 20, 2014 (UTC)
- Actually the fact that no source has ever stated that a bifurcating cyclical-ignition pulse was used in Katarn's/Qu Rahn's/Mara Jade's lightsabers does not belong in the article at all. It is purely unsourced speculation, and does not belong in the behind the scenes section since behind the scenes sections are not for comparisons, speculation, or trivia. If a verifiable source actually states that their lightsabers used a BCIP, it should be added back, but otherwise it is speculation. Trip391 (talk) 19:01, March 22, 2014 (UTC)
