Move?Edit

Do we need to move this to "Boc Aseca" or "Bocas'eca"? jSarek

I would say keep it "Boc Aseca" because in Twilek culture the names end up being seperated if they are vile people like Bib Fortuna.

The killing of BocEdit

I've added some info on Boc's death. It is (or should be) more of less canonical, since the source is Dietz' novella Dark Forces: Jedi Knight. Any objections? KEJ 11:01, 19 Oct 2005 (UTC)

  • It's as canonical as the game is - probably moreso, since Boc's death in the game occurs during gameplay (rather than cutscenes) and thus doesn't happen in a set manner. jSarek 11:40, 19 Oct 2005 (UTC)
    • Gameplay and stats are usually N-canon (for example, if you let Katarn die, this can't be canonical). Only plot, scenario and dialogues are C-canon, so the novel must be more canonical than the way someone kills Boc in the game MoffRebus 13:54, 19 Oct 2005 (UTC)

I guess that, if the killing of Boc's canonical, then there's no sense in having moved the decription of his death in the novella into the 'Behind the scenes'-section, which somebody has done. I'm not going to just move it back just like that, since I'm not interested in edit warsKEJ 16:53, 19 Oct 2005 (UTC)

      • I moved it there because it was totally OOU. You can move it back, but keep it in-universe. (ie Don't mention "In the novella..." QuentinGeorge 20:32, 19 Oct 2005 (UTC)
        • I guess we don't have to worry about that now; jSarek's solved it already KEJ 09:11, 20 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Boc's madnessEdit

We have this: "Boc's lightsaber skills grew in proportion to his growing anger and hatred. His fighting style was described as unorthodox and unpredictable. One of his combat strategies included jumping about incessently."

The unorthodox and unpredictable are all too true, but there's not a word about his madness or insanity. Anyone who's played through the game, watched Boc's cutscenes, and fought the Boc battle knows that this guy has fallen more into madness than anger. I mean, he doesn't just jump around when he fights; he cackles and taunts. All the other Dark Jedi characters just have one remark for Kyle at the beginning of their fights, but Boc continues his commentary throughout the entire battle (remarks such as "Feisty!" when he's taken a lot of damage). I mean, the light side cutscene shows us that Boc begins his battle against Kyle with a joking remark:

Kyle (rescuing Jan): "This is gonna cost YOU a crateload of money YOU don't have."

Jan: "As long as I'm around to pay you, I don't care."

Kyle: "My sentiments exactly."

Boc (suddenly appearing from his statue disguise): "Mine, too! HA HA HA HA!"

He has a characteristic stutter, laughing with almost every word he speaks. He peeks curiously and laughs at Rahn aboard the Vengeance. He strokes Jan's hair and laughs when they kidnap her. He makes cooing, ironic statements to Kyle before destroying his lightsaber--again, laughing like a maniac all the while. He hisses indignantly when Jerec activates the Valley's power; you could call this rage if you want, but it's more comical than anything. If Kyle turns to the dark side, Boc is referred to as "A Nuisance" who doesn't realise the true power of the Dark Side--clearly a reference to his inane nature.

But my question is, does the novellization specifically say that Boc is fueled by anger and hatred, instead of madness? Does the novella even address Boc's insanity?

I'm starting to dislike that novella's interpretations more and more, as time goes by. Almost as bad as the remaking of Greedo into some naive, golden-hearted kid. Louisy novella. Having Kyle holding a freakin' lightsaber on that "Soldier For Empire" cover, long before he even thought of turning Jedi. Wish we could just renounce the whole thing as non-canon. Boc Aseca? Edit

I am afraid the title of this article should be "Boc". "Boca seca" in Spanish means "dry mouth", and is a character's name of a humorous TV programme in Spain. Probably someone here is a funny chap...

  • I believe whoever gave us the full name (I think it was Abel Pena) actually acknowledged its origin, and has made similar in-jokes for other Twi'lek full names - Kwenn 19:46, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
  • Okay. Sorry then! 11 August 2006 (UTC)
