Talk:Broadside-class cruiser kdb-1
Back to page
It's 500 m in length, which would make it a "cruiser" by the old standards, but I believe it was classified as a "corvette" in the game. Should that reflect the "role" part of the statbox? VT-16 16:29, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
- I don't see why you couldn't add both.TIEPilot051999 16:36, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's true. It's just that according to some people, the "class" box has to follow some old "Imperial classification" system, which mostly puts anything above 400 meters as a "cruiser", even though the ship in question doesn't follow that role. Then there's also the naming scheme, which also doesn't always explain what the ship in question is. So it's "cruiser" in class, and "missile corvette" in role. VT-16 16:42, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
- So confusing... Admiral J. Nebulax 20:43, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
- I just treat that Imperial system from WEG as a rough size measurement, when it says "cruiser" it's above 400m in length. It's dumb and as inadequate as can be, but unless we put it there, you-know-who will raise a stink, and it's been quiet for too long for me to bother with yet another fight or edit war. The "Role" section adds to this adequately, so that's good enough for me. VT-16 22:04, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
- Agreed. Admiral J. Nebulax 00:09, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
- Interesting, but have you guys seen the concept art that Petroglyph put out. I think Star Wars Databank just made up those size figures when you look at that.

- Wait, since it's concept art, isn't it possible that the size changed over time? Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 20:18, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
- Also, I've heard that starfighters are extra-big in EoW, so that you can actually see them. We should probably keep the databank value in the box for now, since it's canon. 500 meters is ok for a cruiser; see the Carrack-class cruiser, Strike-class cruiser, Dreadnaught-class cruiser, etc. -LtNOWIS 20:54, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
- Good idea. Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 20:56, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
- AFAIK, concept art isn't canon. I agree that we should use the 500 m length from the Databank for now. Should we even have a discussion about the concept art in the BTS section? JimRaynor55 01:29, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think so. Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 01:56, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

- It being called a cruiser isn't a problem, since everything above a few dozen meters in length has been called that at one time or another. The only point of contention was its small size both in the game and in the concept art. The sizes are adjustable, so at optimal "realistic" size, is it big enough to be considered 500m long? VT-16 14:25, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
- I suppose that it could be considered 500 meters long. Admiral J. Nebulax (talk)

Question: Is it just me or does the Broadside Cruiser look like it could be the VT-49 Decimator's predecessor? DAWUSS 22:36, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
- They're similar, but I doubt that one became the other. Admiral J. Nebulax (talk)

id like people to remember that it has been stated before that ships are scaled down in the video games to make them easyer to defeat even one created for the vidoe game Ralok 20:35, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
