Refference
Edit
Ok, this thing looks wierd: W-I-E-R-D wierd. Is it possible its supposed to be a cultural refference--75.84.148.90 04:42, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
Enough evidence that this is a species?
Edit
From what I can see, this article (and the species of Max) are based on this single quote:
"He's a bunny, I'm a dog. We're dangerous, but we work cheap."
I'm an inclusionist, but I'm not sure this is sufficient to declare it a Star Wars species, based on:
- It is from a game strategy guide. What is the context of this quotation? Is it a story narration describing in-universe events, or is it a chapter introduction to non-universe game explanations? I'd say that Peña's use of "lagomorph" can be canon because it's described in-universe (even though it's taken from a famous Max quote); is "bunny" ever used in-universe?
- It's a quote from Sam, who does not exist in the Star Wars universe. If this quotation is from an out-of-universe context in the strategy guide, then there is no evidence that anyone in Star Wars would describe "bunny" as a species.
- Even if all of the above were in-universe and canon, consider: This is an actual quote that predates its inclusion in the strategy guide. When Sam said this quote (in OUR universe) "bunny" was meant as a synonym for "rabbit". Is there any indication that, here, Sam's use of "bunny" means a separate species than rabbit?
You know, I just realized this was the "Unknown lagomorph species" article. I'd support renaming it that. -BaronGrackle 06:27, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- Well we already have rabbit. -- Riffsyphon1024 06:31, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with BaronGrackle on this one. The kind of standards we normally work would require Bunny to be capitalised to be considered a species name. An example of this is our treatment of the Glurrgs. --Eyrezer 06:37, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- I disagree. We don't know that Max or bunnies by extension are sentient (hence the capitalization) and we don't know that bunnies are rabbits in the GFFA. Also, we can tell that it's a species name, because "Sam" mentions that he's a dog, which is a known species. And strategy guides are C-canon, I believe. Thefourdotelipsis 00:20, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- Absent any hard, canonical evidence to the contrary, we have to go with bunny. We could chase our puffy little tails forever if we try to justify anything else. Gonk (Gonk!) 16:14, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
- According to Marvel Star Wars 11, Han says that Jaxxon "looks like a bunny but fights like a tiger." Based on this evidence, I say merge with rabbit. The fact that Max describes himself as a "bunny" no more makes this his proper species name than the fact Jaxxon describes himself as a "rabbit" makes that his proper species name. Besides, there is good evidence that Max, like Jax, is a Lepi.JustinGann 02:48, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
