Talk:Byss
From Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki.
Hey, has anyone noticed the discrepancy with Byss being in other sources (most notably the Jedi Academy game) after its destruction? I never read the Dark Empire books, so I was surprised to find that Byss was destroyed in 10 ABY, whereas Jedi Academy takes place in 14 ABY. Marauder 05:06, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
- Are you sure it's an appearance? Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

- Ah, I apologize. I stand corrected - Rosh Penin traveled to the remains of Byss, where he was captured. Marauder 16:00, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
- Oh. I was going to say, if it was the planet itself, it would be another example of how games go against canon... ;) Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

[edit] Evidence of the Dark Side
He enslaved them and drained their life energies to power his abominable experiments. Eventually, Byss was entirely enveloped in the dark side of the Force. This was evident by the eerie blue-green sunlight that bathed the world in a strange glow.
What is the canon source that the color of the world's sunlight was evidence of the Dark Side, rather than simply evidence of the star's color or the planet's atmosphere? According to the DE Sourcebook, Byss orbits a binary pair of a blue giant and a blue dwarf. --68.41.122.213 18:47, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

Byss does not look like that in EaW. It looks more like Alderaan than Coruscant. -- I need a name (Complain here) 22:51, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Rebels Destroyed Byss
Anyone find this kind of disturbing? I mean I know it was an accident but still there were 19 billion people there and most were (presumably) innocent? -Gimodon
Yeah, that's fucked up. But considering what happened in the aftermath of Endor, it's not alone. I wonder how many actually died or how much evacuated.
BTW the Imperial Fleet orbiting Byss was much smaller than earlier in the comic series, as the fleet was dispersed around the Galaxy so that could be a good thing. -SWF
[edit] Image Swap
- I'm going to swap the two shots of Byss (FF and EaW) because that model from EaW is not unique at all and is used on a dozen different planets. - Brynn Alastayr 07:38, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Two different Bysses
Where is it that says that the Byss of Palpatine and the Byss of the Abyssin are two different planets? I like to think of myself as pretty knowledgeable of Star Wars, but up til just a moment ago, I thought the Abyssin were from Palpatine's fortress world. —Unsigned comment by 74.193.115.85 (talk • contribs).
- Palpatine's Byss is a lush world in the Deep Core, and has a single star; the arid homeworld of the Abyssin is in the Outer Rim Territories, and has a figure-eight orbit around the stars Byss and Abyss. As the second edition of Galaxy Guide 4: Alien Races notes, "The Byss populated by the Abyssin is not the same world rumored to house the Emperor's private retreat. It is a hot, dry desert world in another part of the galaxy altogether" (italics theirs). jSarek 07:40, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
