Shira Brie/Governor TreeceEdit

There's no mention of the Ugnaught Rebellion or Shira and Luke's aid in getting Cloud City back. And yes, Zorba's later take-over should also be mentioned. This article is extremely incomplete.72.68.228.25 02:18, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

This is from the official site: " Once it took control of Cloud City, the Empire transformed the resort into a basic factory for Tibanna production. The new administrator, Captain Treece, brought back slaving practices, forcing the Ugnaught workers to toil to fill Imperial coffers. The Ugnaughts rebelled, however. Striking from secret floating platforms below Cloud City, the Ugnaughts lined the outpost with dangerous timer bombs. The remainder of Cloud City's populace was evacuated during the Ugnaught insurrection. Calrissian returned to find Cloud City a ghost town, and he helped the Ugnaughts rebel against Treece. Calrissian was unable to reclaim the city, however, until after the defeat of the Empire at Endor.

Much like the rest of the galaxy, Cloud City underwent great upheaval during the political chaos that followed in the wake of the Battle of Endor. As Lando began to diversify his business holdings, he again lost Cloud City, ironically in the same fashion that he acquired it -- in a sabacc game. Calrissian lost a rigged game to the disgusting Zorba the Hutt. Cloud City again suffered Imperial occupation during Grand Admiral Thrawn's campaign to retake the Core Worlds from the New Republic. The Tibanna factories were pressed into service to supply the Imperial war machine with vital blaster gas." 72.68.228.25 02:23, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Zorba the HuttEdit

Zorba the Hutt owned Cloud City for a time after the Battle of Endor. I don't know which of the young-adult novels this was in though, so I haven't added anything on this. Anyone? — SavageBob 20:15, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Age Edit

I hadn't realized the place was 2,000 years old by the time of the Empire Strikes Back. It really says something about the construction of the place, especially in that sort of enviornment to last as long as it had.

Not quite related, but Edit

reading this paper on possible colonization of Venus made me think of Cloud City as 50 km above the planet is where the temperature and pressure are pretty much the same as Earth, and filling a place with gas would cause it to float without any external power source. Torture Device? Edit

Am I remembering correctly that the Empire customized some carbonite equipment to make the electrical device used to torture Han?

EV-9D9 Edit

shouln't EV-9D9 be mentioned in this article?

Size Edit

How big is it?--TeakHoken91.7.43.194 21:57, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

  • I read somwhere that it is 16 000m (probably the diameter). But I don't remember the source for that. Hopefully someone else has a source. --Draii 23:00, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Reactor bulbEdit

Inside the Worlds of Star Wars Trilogy says that the bulge at the very bottom of cloud city is a "reactor bulb", and that it's full of exploding, or burning, or maybe just orange gas. In Jedi Outcast, you run around inside the "reactor bulb". Does anyone know if there is an explaination for this (down for maintainence, etc), or is it just discontinuity? Ajrand 06:51, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

  • It must be some areas open to maintenance crews. VT-16 12:39, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

force unleashed Edit

the ugnaughts and cloud city will apeear--Ryal 18:15, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Luke in EpV Edit

In EpV closer to the end, Luke drops into the Millennium Falcon and they fly away. The movie shows Luke in the Falcon and he has dialogue. Soon after, it then cuts to Luke having his cybernetic hand tested. In Ep VI, Luke flies to Dagobah in his X-Wing. Would anyone be able to explain to me how Luke gets his X-Wing back from where he left it at Cloud City?

DeathInSilver 07:45, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

  • I think they were different fighters. VT-16 08:28, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Vehicle? Edit

On the technological aspect, can Cloud City be categorized also as a vehicle/vessel? Don't know which vehicle category would fit it. Just wondering. Kaal 17:02, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Force Unleashed Edit

May I ask why theres nothing about the attack on CLoud city in the game "The Force Unleashed" Unsigned comment by TheguyfromTV (talk • contribs).

Altitude?Edit

Pardon me, just passing through, but I noticed this:

"The city floated 60,000 feet above the core of the planet, which was an uninhabitable gas giant."

I know it's not always necessary or helpful to judge sci-fi in terms of the real world, especially since Star Wars isn't fussy, hard sci-fi anyway; but 60,000 feet is about twice the altitude a normal airliner would fly at. It's 18.3 kilometres - no distance at all, when you consider that Low Earth Orbit is usually considered to be between 250-350km, and especially in comparison to a gas giant. On Jupiter, the temperature such a tiny distance 'above' the core is currently thought to be in the region of 9-10,000°C. And besides, Cloud City quite obviously sits in a fairly low-density region of the atmosphere, since people can walk around outside - unless there's assumed to be some sort of shield in place? And if that's the case, then Bespin's atmosphere is very very clear indeed, since sun and sky are visible through what must be several tens of thousands of kilometers of gas.

All of which is basically just a drawn-out way of saying "can someone check the 60,000 feet figure?"... - 94.194.113.136 12:48, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

  • Yeah, it should be kilometers. Good catch. - Lord Hydronium 19:28, June 28, 2010 (UTC)
