Fixing the PageEdit

It shouldn't be too hard to fix this page. we could probably get some pretty good stuff from wikipedia to make it better. I am just not quite good enough at adding stuff to do that. Strong mouse 02:17, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Unfortunately, Star Wars computers may be different from Earth computers, so we could only mentions aspects of computers that are mentioned in the Expanded Universe; we can't assume that they're both the same. --Michaeldsuarez ^{(Activate Holocron)} 02:43, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Rewrite template flag Edit

This article is in need of a rewrite. It really is a mess. Word choice is questionable (i.e. the use of "appliances" in the opening--not wrong necessarily, but not the best option). Grammar is flagrantly wrong in many cases. There are capitalized words in the middle of sentences that aren't appropriate. There are spaces before commas , like I just did as an example. The entire article tends toward wall-of-text single paragraphs per section. The bullet use in the last section is clumsy, as well.

The introduction seems meandering and unorganized, and at times, it seems the article wanders off subject. For example, the entire Starships section talks more about types of sensors than it does computers (seems to be a recurring problem--that's also an issue in the intro and the inclusion of "universal jammer" in the Anti-Security Devices section). Furthermore, the article's four sections after the intro are grouped into an unnecessary parent section.

In short, there are more things wrong with this article than there are right. The best course is a complete rewrite by an author who can organize his thoughts and stay on subject. Xavic Kae 19:48, May 9, 2011 (UTC)

  • I've never done a major edit of this scale, I'm not totally clear yet on all the minutia of page construction, in order to make it come out polished and appropriate. I can handle the content, but the formatting will be a learning process. I have a question. What exactly are these computers made out of? Does Star Wars still use silicon chips, like the missile article with the "Chip" Missile implies, or are they more advanced quantum computers? It seems like they should be quantum, but knowing for certain would be helpful. Right now all i get from this article is that there are computers for navigation, and that there were computers in the Jedi temple. If someone could tell me how the computers actually worked, i would be grateful...
