Talk:DC-15s side arm blaster
Back to page
I'm not sure a sources tag is required. I can't think of any more appearances for the DC-15s, aside from maybe the game website and strategy guide. -LtNOWIS 01:22, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

Range
Edit
What's the source for this thing's range? 1,000 meters seems pretty outlandish for a pistol, seeing as rifles have much shorter range (according to The Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology, the E-11 blaster rifle has a range of 300 meters). 68.47.234.131 17:15, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- It does seem a little outlandish, but if there's a good source for it, it's the truth. Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 20:51, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- The range given on the Republic Commando website is 1,000. This is compared to 10,000 for the DC-17m sniper rifle or bowcaster, 1,000 for the DC-17m anti-armor, 1,500 for the ACP Array Gun, 5,000 for the E-5 droid blaster, and 8,000 for the droideka and SBD. The units aren't given, and I'm sure they're not in meters. We could figure out a unit conversion if we knew the ranges for the others, but even than, it might be a gameplay mechanic. -LtNOWIS 19:14, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
- Wow, that's helpful that they don't give us the units. Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 20:08, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
- I hate to comment on a old topic, but if we can assume the range units are the same for the website the quoted numbers come from it is possible to change the units into meters. An E-5 Droid blaster has a maximum range of 200 meters according to the Arms & Equipment Guide. If you divide 200 meters by the 5,000 units that is quoted from the website you get 0.04 meters per unit. If you then multiply by the 1,000 units that the pistol is given you get 40 meters, which seems a lot more reasonable. My only question is if doing those calculations would count as original research and keep us from using it.Kellhorn 22:49, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's fan calculations, which we can't use. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

- It's definitely not the same as the Blaster Pistol wielded by the Clones in BF1 or 2. I'd say it's actually a variant of the DC-15S Blaster instead (notably smaller but same design). Ggctuk 21:44, September 29, 2009 (UTC)
I've read Imperial Commando: 501st several times and there is no mention of the DC-15s sidearm. Mand'alor Fett II 14:05, April 22, 2010 (UTC)
It is in RepulicCommando novel True Colors when RC1136 or Darman was attacked by two Commando assasains Darman noticed that the Hand guns that the assasains had were the same as his own wich was a DC15s side arm blaster (pages 184-7)

Firepower
Edit
In the game Republic Commando the DC-15s side arm blaster seems to be more powerful than the DC-17m blaster attachment and in the game the blaster bolts are bigger than those of the DC-17m blaster attachment. Also in the game it takes several shots from the DC-17m blaster attachment to kill Trando slavers and mercenaries but just a few shots to the head or body with the DC-15s side arm blaster.--Darth Malice the Destroyer 22:29, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
The pistol is suited for CQC, while the rifle is meant for medium range, that might be why you kill faster with the pistol. Warrior Brutus 11:30, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
Also, at the bottom of the page, the DC-15s is called a heavy blaster pistol, but it is also stated that it is weaker than the DC-15 rifle, and aren't havy blaster supposed to be just as powerful as rifles? It also says that the DC-17mm is more powerful than the DC-15 rifle, but in Republic Commando the pistol is more powerful than the rifle. Mand'alor Fett II 14:02, April 22, 2010 (UTC)
Wrong
Edit
"DC-15s pistols were commonly used by regular clone troopers as an emergency sidearm"
They never appeared outside of Republic Commando, and the Battlefront sidearm was obviously the DC-15S carbine!
Let's put this clear
Edit
All I want is to help, ok? But since you didn't understand my edits, you probably never played Battlefront. So, I'll have to explain it to you:
Quote from the article: "DC-15s pistols were commonly used by regular clone troopers as an emergency sidearm."
Notes and references: "Battlefront II: Prima Official Game Guide"
I've read it and, yes, they called the clones side arm "DC-15s". This is a mistake, it should be "DC-15S".
Here you can see a bigger picture of the blaster: battlefront.wikia.com/wiki/Clone_Trooper
So, now tell me: Does this look like the DC-15s in any way?
Compare it to the DC-15S:
I hope you understand now.
Canon?
Edit
I feel like most of the information is trying to justify a game mechanic, where you want a weapon that makes it so that you never run out of ammo. The thing is, it doesn't make any sense with what we know about how Star Wars firearms work. You're going to run out of tibanna gas eventually and the power pack is going to run out of power, unless there is some sort of internal power generator, which seems unlikely. The smallest generator I can think of is a fusion furnace. 188.74.116.102 02:57, November 10, 2011 (UTC)
