Talk:DC-17 hand blaster

From Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki.

DC-17's design Does anyone else think that the DC-17's design could have been based of a scilenced pistol? They look remakably simalar, including a small grove on Fordo's left blaster in the picture on the article, which could be where the spent shells leave the chamber on a pistol. Master Halcyon

[edit] Change to pic?

Could someone change the pic to an actual photo, or a still from one of the movies instead of the frame from Clone Wars ?Tocneppil 21:25, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

  • IMO, the image is good. Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 21:36, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
    • I'm only asking for a pic because to me it looked like the clones in Clone Wars were using DC-15s, due to the barrel length in the drawings (the pics show the pistols to be somewhat shorter). This caused me some consternation when I was initially searching for the proper designation for the Clone Trooper side arm. Also, isn't there a rule about preference towards using images from movie sources over other sources (besides canon arguments, I mean)?Tocneppil 22:06, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Wait a sec... DC-17 Hand blasters are in the movie? I didn't see any...... Could you get a pic of Bly's? I'm wondering what the Krayt pear ones look like.--1upD 20:51, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Article similarities

  • This is remarkably similar to the Commando pistol article. I'm wondering if the two are the same, or if they're just similar models.--Ryluk Shouja(Bounty Hunters Guild)10:42, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
    • They're not the same. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 22:23, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
      • Actually, they ARE the same. The DC-17 hand blasters were wielded by the jet troopers from the Star Wars: Battlefront and Star Wars: Battlefront II video games. However, in the games they were called DC-17 COMMANDO pistols. So YES, they are the same. Cyfiero 05:47, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Price and shots

Can anyone tell me what the price would be for one of these things, and how many shots. 216.211.51.199 02:58, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

  • Based on the description, it sounds like a Sub-repeating Blaster Pistol by the Star Wars Saga Edition rules, which is the only thing that might give a price. 1,000 credits, 50 shots. However, auto-fire only, which in the d20 rules means 5 shots (at 10 per turn). Think the blaster version of the Beretta M-93r. Operations.kt 03:24, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Another image.

If you go to LucasArts.com, u can find another image of the DC-17 commando pistol wielded by jet troopers if you go to Star Wars: Battlefront on the website. Just go to the gameplay section after clicking on Star Wars: Battlefront. 05:57, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New Image

Isn't Captian Rex's Blaster pistols a DC-17hand blaster? Couldn't we upload a picture of his blasters? JediNTT307 00:17, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Yes, Rex uses DC-17 hand blasters. Quite well. However, Fordo uses much larger guns, a DC-17 variant. Perhaps we should move that text to the Commando pistol page? Operations.kt 04:04, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Add An imedge of the commando version

[edit] DC-17 hand vs DC-17 commado

Fordo uses a much larger sidearm than Rex does, in the cartoons and the comics. I took the pic of Fordo from Advanced_Recon_Commando and cropped it to focus on the blaster, which I think is one of the cleanest images we have.

I think there should be a distinction between the DC-17 commando and the DC-17 hand blaster, mainly in that the commando variant appears to be a heavy blaster.

Anyone with better data is free to give a better argument. It seems that LucasFilm animators are contradicting themselves on this weapon. Same weapon, different artists, maybe?

Operations.kt 22:37, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

  • Having just read my brother in laws copy of The Clone Wars Campaign Guide, it states that Rex's blasters are Heavy Blaster Pistols in his stat block, and states that ARC Troopers like Fordo used heavy blaster pistols capable of auto-fire. So, while we're still not 100% sure what the Commando pistol is, we know the DC-17 hand blaster is a heavy pistol. Operations.kt 03:54, 1 February 2009

Keep separate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!--LandonJaeger 19:13, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Not in Revenge of the Sith

I don't know why it was listed in the appearances, but the DC-17 hand blasters weren't featured in Episode III. JangFett Talk 01:52, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

in bly's holsters,they are.Thegreatjourney97 04:29, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] New Pictures

Since now the commando pistol is the same thing as the DC-17 hand blaster can we put some pictures of the commando pistol in this article too instead of only pictures from the Clone Wars show. It would be much appreciated.--Darth Malice the Destroyer 20:52, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
