Talk:Darth Rivan

From Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki.

This may actually be a seperate person from Darth Revan.--Eion 23:41, 26 May 2005 (UTC)

  • Well why was it originally an anon's vandalism then. If its a real person, he just happened to choose something no one knew of (except maybe you) to vandalise. Odd. -- Riffsyphon1024 23:48, 26 May 2005 (UTC)
    • He's apparently from the WOTC "Living Force" RPG campaign. Who ever said all vandals were dumb, or that he may just have been right by coincidence. However, the vandilization must go!--Eion 23:50, 26 May 2005 (UTC)
      • Though this has been solved, this same type of thing has a become popular vandal technique recently. --Fade 08:23, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
        • Which is perhaps best solved by foiling their attempts by putting up articles on as many characters as possible.--Eion 16:59, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
          • Kaox Krul was an underling of Kaan, not a Dark Lord of the Sith.JustinGann 20:49, 2 Dec 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Rivan and Ruusan

How can Rivan be a Dark Lord of the Sith and yet arrive at the 7 Battles of Ruusan? Wasn't Kaan already Dark Lord at that time? Also, where does it reveal that Rivan ever went to Ruusan?

[edit] Sucession

There seems to be some confusion in the sucession box. Do we know anything about when Rivan lived and who was Dark Lord before and after him? Was he even a Dark Lord? He isn't mentioned as one in the article... Charlii 08:15, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Physical Immortality

  • "In the end, it is not known whether Rivan's quest for physical immortality ever truly succeeded—after being driven off Almas by a massive Jedi/Republic assault, Darth Rivan barely escaped with his life, eventually perishing."

Wouldn't the fact that he persihed answer the question of whether or not his quest for physical immortality ever truly succeeded. Seeing as how he perished, I'd say it failed wouldn't you? DarthMalus 16:12, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Time Travel?

Is there a source for his time traveling exploits? I know the Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia states he died at the Battle of Ruusan, but that seems to be an error, unless there's a source that states he time traveled. It sounds like conjecture or original research. Barringer 07:27, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

  • It's from Echoes of the Jedi. - Lord Hydronium 08:40, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
    • I added a citation. Do you happen to know which source states he was killed by his apprentice? Barringer 17:59, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
      •  Living Force Campaign: Sith Battlelords on Wizards.com (article), I think. "[Rivan] was betrayed by his apprentice before being able to create sufficient battlelords to build an army"; it does not say if Rivan survived the betrayal, though.--Skippy Farlstendoiro 19:18, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
        • Hmm, Echoes of the Jedi says "During a pivotal battle, Rivan simply vanished from the combat zone in a catastrophic and violent way. Legend relates that Rivan at last obtained possession of the Darkstaff that he both craved and feared, and that it created a hyperspace wormhole, known as a Force Storm, that annihilated Rivan’s Battlelord army. Caught in the eye of this unnatural tempest, Rivan was flung to a time and place far removed from Almas. He found himself on the planet Ruusan, caught in the War of Light and Dark between Lord Hoth’s Army of Light and Lord Kaan’s Brotherhood of Darkness. The Darkstaff left Rivan bereft of the Force, and when he encountered a Force-user of inconsequential power, the Dark Lord was easily dispatched." His time traveling foray seems open to being a legend, and not fact, but since the Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia also says he died at the Battle of Ruusan, that seems to suggest it is fact. The betrayal by the apprentice seems to have occurred prior to his time traveling, so it seems likely that he was not killed by his apprentice, unless there's another source that more explicitly states that he was. Granted, his death as described by Echoes of the Jedi is very vague and open to retcon due to the whole "[l]egend relates" preface. It does sound as though Echoes of the Jedi is referencing another work that makes mention of it, though, because it seems odd that it mentions it the way it does. [edit] Darth

Rivan was not the first to use the title of Darth. Not by a long shot. See http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Darth_Andeddu for an example. --Icepirate 17:20, October 27, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Rule of Two

Couldn't it be that Rivan's apparent knowledge of the Rule of Two centuries before Bane invented it is because Bane was inspired to create the rule after viewing Revan's holocron, and Rivan was also inspired (right down to his identity) by records of Revan as well? — Red XIV (talk) 21:55, December 29, 2009 (UTC)
