Where does the Invincible come from? And as far as I know, the Adjudicator took part at the Battle of Endor, but was never said to be a part of Death Squadron. As for the Accuser, it is a part of Death Squadron. Piett transferred his flag to the Accuser temporarily when Vader took the Executor back to Coruscant following his battle with Luke at Bespin. Can someone help post sources that prove each ship's membership in Death Squadron? Most sources claim that there are only 5 ISDs, but right now this article claims that there are 9.

Those are the only ones that I can confirm myself, and they already add up to 5. According to the SWTC, the Accuser is in Death Squadron, and was used as the temporary flagship when Vader took Executor back to Coruscant following TESB. I trust Saxton, but I'd still like to know where he got that from. I've heard from someone at SD.net that the Conquest was mentioned in the Star Wars Encyclopedia, but again, I'd like that confirmed as well. As for the Adjudicator and Thunderflare, I've never, ever heard of them being in Death Squadron before. JimRaynor55 17:29, 27 Nov 2005 (UTC)

• I suspect the numbers are inferred from combining the number of "ISD I" and "ISD II" models seen on screen with the number of ISD IIs stated. I have a vague idea that Conquest may be the SD that gets whapped by the asteroid in ESB. Going by the Unofficial Encyclopedia entry, Accuser may be from the Movie Trilogy Sourcebook or Truce at Bakura Sourcebook, probably relating to her supposed presence at Tatooine under Vader's command between ESB and RotJ. Thunderflare is, I believe, identified in ItW as the ISD at the start of RotJ (is there any more of this sort of thing in that book?). The key question is whether the strength of five ships is ever stated in canon (beyond the "five" ISDs escorting Ex in the ESB script). The five ISDs number is seen in Galxy Guide 3: Empire Strikes Back, in the section about Death Squadron.

Bit of a Johnny-Come-Lately, but the ESB novelization explicitly states six ships, including Executor:

The sleekly elongated ship was larger and even more ominous than the five wedge-shaped Imperial Star Destroyers guarding it.

While most sources identify Death Squadron as having a combination of 5 ISD-I's and ISD-II's, the novelization of ESB identifies the fleet as consisting of 20 support ships in addition to the Executor. Does anyone know what Star Destroyer got hit by the asteroid? One person says it's the Conquest, but I'm unsure. It lost its bridge tower, but could the ship have left the asteroid field just as the Executor did.

And what was the name of the ship's commanding officer whose hologram vanishes?

• SWAJ #12 gives a date at the very end of 2 ABY for the formation of Death Squadron, said there to be under Admiral Ozzel's command, and very clearly implies that it's at least officially created at that date; but the databank mentions it as existing under Admiral Griff, which Geonosis and the Outer Rim Worlds would imply was no more than six months after Yavin (although there are problems with this date, if Shadow Stalker happens in 3 ABY). Anyone got any more information—perhaps from the SotME comic or GG3?

  • According to Galaxy Guide 3: The Empire Strikes Back, "The Imperial Star Destroyer squadron assigned to Darth Vader after the Battle of Yavin was code-named the Imperial Death Squadron. First under the command of Admiral Griff, and later Admiral Ozzel..." GG3 is written in the present tense, as if you are reading it shortly after the Battle of Hoth. Given the way this is referenced in the past tense, not to mention identifying the squadron being under command of Griff originally, this tells me that Death Squadron was formed at the same time the Executor was completed and given to Vader, if not shortly thereafter - right around six months ABY. While merely game canon, would the Corrupter have been a part of Death Squadron, or simply a mere attachment to help blockade the Hoth system? The question may be resolved with the help of knowing when the planetary ion canon was no longer operational. JoelBray 20:02, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
