Can't we get a better portrait?
Edit
I'd do it myself, but I'm not 100% sure how to put a picure up without infringing copyrights. Linkman95 18:32, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
Devaronian or Bothan?
Edit
Under the illustration (at the bottom of the article), we can read "A male and a female Devaronian". I may be wrong, but the female character looks like more a bothan than a devaronian, no? I don't have Alien Anthology, so I can't verify it. And by the way, if that character is not a devaronian, anyone has ever seen a female devaronian picture? I wonder if it's all the same about the horns. Kaal 20:43, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- I believe the image is that of a female Devaronian. I dont think that females have horns. Sian Jeisel, Darth Maladi and Vien'sai'Malloc have been identified as female Devaronians. -- Volemlock 18:54, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
- It is, ir you read the article the Devaronian's are well known for having a huge difference between their males and females. Pahya
- I'm sorry, but look carefully pictures of Sian Jeisel or Darth Maladi. There are really not the same look than the picture in the article, on which we can see a very furry female character. She has even fur on her arms, do you see so much fur on Jeisel or Maladi? And another detail, devaronian female seem to not have horns, only "horn marks", that's not the case for this furry character... Maybe someone who has the Alien Anthology could be able to clear that IMO. Kaal 11:26, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

- I believe that female would be something like an early concept overriden by more recent comic appeareances. I vote to have a picture from some of these comics to show the female of the species. Anyway, the main difference seems to be the fur, as we can't see if she has vestigial horns on her forehead, perhaps the other females shave their body hair to resemble humans.Bodo-Baas 19:11, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Can male Devaronians grow facial hair? (72.77.19.134 03:23, 15 April 2007 (UTC))
- I guess so, at least Kapp Dendo has a beard.Bodo-Baas 19:11, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
According to the Essential Guide to Alien Species, the females have spots where the horns would be, except that they no longer have the ability to grow them. The females also have a covering of thick fur ranging from white to brown that the males have lost over time. I'm not sure why there's the difference between the guides and the comics, but the females ARE supposed to look like that picture. I have no idea about the facial hair question though. 72.174.193.138 00:37, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Perhaps the females grow fur when they are older, and when they are still young (such as up to their early adulthood) they are "furless" until they reach a certain age and then it grows in. Has their been any sources that depict young females having fur that could contradict this? Another possibility is that the lack of fur is a rare genetic condition similar to that of some males developing a duel set of teeth. Dark Ridley 17:43, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Maybe rather than looking at it through "canon vision", look to artist Jan Duursema who makes ALL of her female devaronians hairless. In the behind the scene section of Darth Maladi's page Duursema says she doesn't want Darth Maladi to look like other devaronians, but she makes all female devaronians look like Maladi and NOT have fur.
- I suggest that there might be different ethnic groups among Devaronians, in which the females are furless.--Bosda Di'Chi 19:05, May 17, 2010 (UTC)
What *is* a demon in Star Wars?
Edit
They seem to be referenced occasionally, and used in several species names, but never actually defined. Is there enough information to write a page at Demon? Would it be too conjectural to say that it was a generic term for a deceitful or destructive mythological creature, which was used to refer to creatures in a number of cultures' mythologies (including that of Somov Rit)? 68.44.13.236 04:38, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
- In my opinion, we could do it. It would also be interesting to see how a Devaronian and a smoke demon look alike! I'd use your own definition like that:
"Demon was a generic term for a deceitful or destructive mythological creature, which was used to refer to creatures in a number of cultures' mythologies (including that of Somov Rit). Various human subcultures' demon sported pointed ears and horns (just like the Dark Side entity Smoke Demon), which explains the feeling of disconfort most humans experienced when meeting a Devaronian. Many creatures or species were designated as "demon" as well, in an analogy comparing their dangerous nature to the real demons' one." 'I would the add a list of so called demon species.

Devish?
Edit
Devish redirects here. Can anyone clarify if Devaronian and Devish are just two names for the same species, two related species, or if Devish are a subspecies of Devaronians? Or just what is the story behind the two names? Bodo-Baas 23:47, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
They are two names for the same species, at least according to the Alien Anthology and Essential Guide to Alien Species. Doesn't say why there's two names for 'em, but it uses them both to refer to the same species. 72.174.193.138 00:40, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Gender Temperaments?
Edit
I'm slightly confused in that this article says that females are more aggressive than the males while the Alien Anthology and the Essential Guide to Alien Species say the opposite. According to the guide, "Devish females are extraordinary responsible, trustworthy, and ambitious...their attentions center on their homes and families...they rarely leave their world...preferring to raise their families in the industrialized cities and villages of Devaron." The males are supposedly the opposite. So which one is correct? 72.174.193.138 00:45, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
I'd say that Alien Anthology and Essential Guide to Alien Specieas ARE in fact correct. Probably a slight error. Feel free to fix it up! 80.36.132.26 17:09, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Gender
Edit
Now this may sound strange, but i think i have come up with a theory as to why devaronians dont have concrete sexual traits, why some females appear to have horns, why some males have hair, my theory is rooted in the fact that devaronian males sometimes have female teeth. My theory is simple, they have some form of hypersexual DNA, instead of having and x/x or an x/y they have an x/x/x/x/x/x/x/x/x/x or an x/x/x/x/x/y/y/y/y/y. But when this genetic structure is out of whack they have a different effect than humans have. Say an x/x/x/x/x/x/y/y/y/y is a male with female teeth, a x/x/x/x/x/x/x/y/y/y is a male with hair. But once they loose a specific amount of Y is lost they become female, so a x/x/x/x/x/x/x/x/y/y would probably be a female with no fur and horns (i dont recall any females with horns having hair in any form) and the final would be x/x/x/x/x/x/x/x/x/y which is a female with no hair. DO I know anythin about genetic . . . nope (if you know anything abotu genetics you probably already know that) To simplify what i am trying to say, they aready set up some males having female traits, the idea of some females having male traits is not outrageous ralok 20:11, September 22, 2010 (UTC)
