[edit] Name
The name for the plural/singular of the race is not Duros/Duro is is Durans/Duran. Look it up in the Complete Guide to Alien Races. True the planet is named Duro and one would think that Duros is a correct, it is not. They are the Durans from Duro and if there was just one he/she would be Duran.
- The Essential Guide to Alien Species calls them Duros both singular and plural. -- Riffsyphon1024 03:57, 25 Jul 2005 (UTC)
- So does KOTOR. Kuralyov 03:57, 25 Jul 2005 (UTC)
- I believe the Han Solo Trilogy does, too. – Aidje talk 04:52, 25 Jul 2005 (UTC)
- As does the Ultimate Alien Anthology, Galaxy Guide 4: Alien Races, and the Star Wars Customizable Card Game. It's pretty conclusive that the species is Duros. jSarek 07:38, 25 Jul 2005 (UTC)
- Googling "Complete Guide to Alien Races" gives me nothing. Is that the right title? Who's the publisher and author of that reference? If we can back this up, maybe Duran should be included as a less common alternate name. — Silly Dan 11:26, 25 Jul 2005 (UTC)
- I've come across the name Duros plenty of times, but never Durans. Custodes 09:40, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

- Meanwhile, I'm putting the "needs citation" template on the "Durosian" name. —Silly Dan (talk) 14:12, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Reproduction
It was stated in The Essential Guide to Alien Species that the Neimoidians reproduced by laying eggs. Do Duros do that as well? -- SFH 23:49, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- Probably, but I don't think it is stated in any official source.--Lord OblivionSith holocron

[edit] Appearances
Where do they appear in Return of the Jedi? I just watched the whole movie, (The special edition), and I couldn't find them anywhere. White bishop 15:55, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- Decipher Customizable Card Game featured at least one Duros in Jabba's Palace Expansion Set, with a picture. However, this picture had been "Photoshopped": A Duros from A New Hope had been cut-and-pasted in a set of Return of the Jedi. I think something similar happened with an Arcona in Jabba's Palace (although Decipher changed the Arcona's eye color). Anyhow, "Jabba's Duros" appear in the Card Game, not in the movie, as far as I know. -- Skippy Farlstendoiro 07:21, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- So then they aren't really in Return of the Jedi, but in a card game that is based on Return of the Jedi. That doesn't count as appearance in my book. Sorry if I am stepping on some toes here, but I'm removing the appearance. White bishop 17:29, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with White bishop. - Skippy Farlstendoiro 07:18, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

-- There is a Duros by name of Truthful Toryl who owns a used spaceship lot on Nar Shaddaa in the first book of the Han Solo series (The Paradise Snare). He is the one to whom Han Solo and Chewbacca sell the ship they stole from the t'landa Til high priest Teroenza when they escaped from him at Ylesia.
- Its in the background of Jabba's palace, when Luke and Han are brought before Jabba. That's also where you can see a white furred Aqualish. VT-16 10:08, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Evolution?
In the Dark Horse Comics guide to the Dark Empire series (think that series was called Star Wars Handbook or something like that), the Duros are said to have evolved out of the Neimoidians, not the other way around. Which description is correct? Custodes 09:45, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
- It's an error. All other (post-TPM) sources state the 'Moids evolved from Duros explorers - Kwenn 10:12, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Reptilian?
Are the Duros reptilian humanoids?—Unsigned comment by 71.10.72.23 (talk • contribs).
- The index in Alien Encounters says they are mammals, but The Essential Guide to Alien Species refers to Neimoidians as reptilian (which would mean that the Duros were reptilian as well.) —Silly Dan (talk) 15:35, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
- See, all this is very confusing to me, because they are not obviously mammalian. Although we've not seen one naked, they aren't at all hairy, which is one of the few obvious things that binds both major subclasses of mammals in real life. If, as is said above, we can infer that they lay eggs, their only hope for being classified "mammal" is if we believe they're in the non-human subclass, or monotremes. This is the subclass that contains the platypus and echdina. But the problem here is that monotreme females do not have breasts as such, nor nipples. Thus the artwork cited elsewhere that shows Duros females with breasts would seem inconsistent with that subclass. (And, anyway, is one artist's rendition in a minor non-fictional guie really all THAT canonical?) We just don't have examples of female Duros in a narrative work, but we do have narrative surrounding Nemoidian reproduction, and a definitive narrative-given biological link between Nemoidians and Duros. I think Duros should be removed from the mammal category, unless a Star Wars definition of mammals can be provided which more clearly links them to the class.
[edit] Duro
Should'nt this be at Duro seeing as all other species are under the singular? e.g. Wookiee, Neimoidian, Human, etc. 71.214.117.22 21:15, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Sexual dimorphism
The article states that one can easily distinguish males from females amongst the Duros, the thing is that it does not state how. Just what are the physical differences between the Duros genders.Darth Dar Binks 00:43, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- A picture on the page of Chidee Na Maak shows a female Duros, and she is thinner than the male and has breasts. I'm sure their voices are different, as well, to distinguish their gender. --Darth Terminus
[edit] Life span
How old can they live?--TheDoctor42 21:03, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
- The Roleplaying game core rulebook says that they change to "venerable" at 80 years old, same as Humans. The Ultimate Alien Anthology updates their "venerable" age to only 70 years. -Skippy Farlstendoiro 06:25, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
