Talk:E-19 blaster rifle

Back to page

In light of the fact that the E-15 was introduced in 14 ABY and then (as mentioned in Invincible) the E-18 was in use by stormtroopers around 40 ABY, is it possible to flag the reference to the E-19 being introduced the same year as the E-15 (or in fact its existence at all) in 14 ABY as an erroneous reference? A progression of BlasTech models from the E-11 around 0 ABY to E-15 around 14 ABY to E-18 around 40 ABY strikes me as a totally plausible timeline of model upgrades, based on real-world military firearm service life.... But introduction of an E-15 and E-19 model in the same year, and then 26 years later stormtroopers using a lesser model--that doesn't seem to make any sense. And I would tend to weight novel references greater than a mention in a video game.

  • It's entirely possible that the E-18 was developed around 14 ABY, but didn't become popular with Imperial troops until 40 ABY. Grand Moff Tranner Imperial Department of Military Research.svg (Comlink) 12:27, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
    • Designation series's are rather subjective. There's also no reason two rifles can't be in service at the same time. For example, in the US Armed forces, the M16 and M14 rifles have both been used for roughly 50 years. (The M16 is standard, but the M14 is still used in various roles.) -LtNOWIS 12:43, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
