WeaponsEdit

I've never heard of a problem with the placement of the lasers, just the fact that they used synthetic gas. This problem was solved (by techs in the field) by tripling(?) the actual power input, at the risk of overloading the canons. Later version corrected the problem at the manufactoring level.

I think this info should be added/corrected. Does anyone concur? Jedi Ranger 05:29, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

  • I don't think there was a problem with the placement of the lasers, except maybe for the one above the cockpit. The main danger with the lasers was that they could overload. Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 13:13, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
    • Was there ever actually a problem with the one over the cockpit? Theoretically, it would mean that a hanger for E-wings requires a somewhat taller ceiling than one for X-wings, but in practice I don't think we've ever seen a starfighter hanger that would be too short for E-wings to open their cockpits properly. 68.47.234.131 23:04, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
      • Even without E-wings, hangars need to be tall enough for a starfighter to hover before it actually departs. Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 00:08, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

i think it would be very difficult for the pilot to enter the cockpit or the astromech to enter its hidy hole RIGHT BEHIND the cockpit if the is a laser right behind the pilots head and i think that if a cannon is going to overload less that 2-3 feet from my head then i would defintely be concerned over my saftey as a pilot so i think that that cannon is in a very aukward position(Boommer3 02:41, 3 September 2006 (UTC))

Astromech Edit

The E-wing required an expensive R7 astromech. Is this sentence trying to say the later E-wing models could interface with pre-R7 astromech models?

It is also noted that the later models of the E-wing starfighters were able to be fitted with a separate astromech unit, such as the R2 or R4 unit.

Thanks. -Finlayson 18:59, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Naming of article Edit

The E-wing, such a powerful starship is called an escort?

Hyperdrive ClassEdit

In the article, it says that the E-wings have a class 1 hyperdrive, but the Star Wars Databank says it had a class 2 hyperdrive. Unsigned comment by 70.248.132.182 (talk • contribs).

real world likeness?Edit

in some other articles note a crafts similarity to real-wold craft. The E-wing vaguely resembles the German Messerschmitt Me 262. Should the similarities between the two craft be noted?Wilhelm screamer 00:35, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

  • One has to strech imagination very wide to see similarity. A bit too much to mention it. Celery 00:57, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Here is a much better image. But wait there is more. maybe now it is note-worthy?Wilhelm screamer 00:08, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

  • The E-wing lacks conventional rudders and stabilizers that the vast majority of real world aircraft have. The airfoil cross-section used for the wing is completely different, and the Me 262 certainly didn't have dorsal weaponry. So, there is no basis for a comparison. And none of those images are loading correctly. Atarumaster88 Jedi Order.svg (Talk page) 00:13, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
  • Only a little similarity. The E-wing was it "wings" at its tail, where the Me 262 has the wings at mid-fuselage. The up/down angle of the wings are opposite too. -Fnlayson 20:01, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
    • Points made and the minor similarities will not be noted. The things that Fnlayson said are what I was thinking when I brought this up. Wilhelm screamer 22:53, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Dark Empire vs. Later RepresentationsEdit

I've added a "Behind the Scenes" section noting a number of visual differences--some minor, some actually quite significant--between the E-wing as presented in Dark Empire, and the later Essential Guide schematics. The width of the ship is a MAJOR problem, as the EGV schematics would yield a ship a meter or LESS wide at the cockpit, FAR too narrow for any human pilot! While admittedly the DE artwork is really rather poor, their depiction of the E-wing is very consistent from one frame to another. Ambaryerno 22:48, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

  • In light of that, shouldn't the main picture be changed? It isn't accurate to the original source.
