Talk:Electromagnetic pulse
Back to page
"Though they were able to reduce an entire planet to a pre-technological state, even destroying enemy shields with one blast, these weapons were used only in relatively small numbers during the Galactic Civil War."
Source check? If the Empire had EMP's capable of destroying enemy planetary sheilds with one blast why did they build the Torpedo sphere, The Death Star etc? Why not use a combo of EMP and ISD to destroy all opposition :P —Unsigned comment by 71.14.121.156 (talk • contribs).
- There is no canon evidence I know of to support the statement that EMP could wipe out shields with one or any blasts. The word blast does not even fit the nature of an electromagnetic pulse to begin with. In fact it would be the exact opposite in which the shields would most likely stop electromagnetic radiation just like any other energy because space and the atmospheres of planets are riddled with electromagnetic radiation, so to design shields that fail so easily in the face of something a ship is certain to encounter is ridiculous. Even real life shuttles have hardened electronics so that they don't fail due to electromagnetic radiation. That little added tidbit does not belong without a source to back it up. --151.203.163.138 04:45, July 17, 2010 (UTC)
