Fighter CountEdit

  • Craken's Threat Dossier says that the Republis was now making squadrons 36 fighters each (I think it was the Haijen text entry, but I'm not sure). Presumably this is beacuse like they were also shifting to making nonhyperdrive equipped fighters. And when they went away from that they went back to the 12 fighters squads we see in later books. But that would give a total of 432 fighters instead of 72. Frankly I find this more convincing because the Imperator, which was not a dedicated carrier, carried that many. Also, a larger fighter screen better explains why its secondary armerment was gutted so much. Finally, it puts it at a mere 12 fighters more then the Venator, which would mesh nicely and imply more internal consistency in starship design withing the series. Not the strongest argument ever due to the likelyhood of WEG minimalism and it being an error in one point of CTD, but I think it fits better. --Lowkey
    • I must agree. This seems to fit better. Admiral J. Nebulax 14:11, 11 Dec 2005 (UTC)
      • While that would make this ship a lot more believable and far less wimpy, I don't think it's the intention. I have CTD, and the 36 fighter squadron was from the Corona-class frigate page. It didn't say anything about the squadron being exceptionally large or increased, so I suspect it might have been a typo. Later in the same book, the Defender-class assault carrier is described as carrying one wing, and it is stated that the majority of the carriers held 3 squadrons of E-wings. It didn't explicitly state that 3 squadrons was the maximum, but given the fact that a Rebel/New Republic wing is supposed to be 3 squadrons, I think that might have been the intention. I hate how the book only stated fighter compliments in wings and not the number of ships. Right now, if you want to go strictly by what is stated in canon, there's no way to figure this out. If you want to go by author's intention (which we're not 100% sure about, and would thus be assuming) the Endurance probably carries 72 fighters (WEG minimalism). Do you think we can ask someone on the official site for an answer? I know Leland Chee has already stated that he doesn't want to discuss specific continuity issues in the Holocron thread. • So what are we going to do? Admiral J. Nebulax 21:55, 12 Dec 2005 (UTC)
          • I think the best thing we can do is just say what CtD says, which is that the Endurance carries two wings. JimRaynor55 19:43, 15 Dec 2005 (UTC)

PictureEdit

Couldn't we use the Nebula-class Star Destroyer's picture for this article, since they're supposed to use the same hull? 68.47.234.131 22:17, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

Fat-hulled vs. flat-hulledEdit

I've seen a lot of fans tell other fans that the Endurance-class is flat-hulled. However, reading my copy of Before the Storm, it clearly states that the ships are fat-hulled, not flat-hulled. From page 7 – "Angular Star Destroyers guarded fat-hulled fleet carriers, while the assault cruisers, their mirror finishes gleaming, took the point."

Shouldn't the article's Behind the Scenes part be fixed to reflect this? Killik Twilight 00:26, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Hyperdrive Rating Edit

"Like the Nebula, the Endurance had a Class 2 hyperdrive..." Just want to point out that the Nebula's description gives it a Class 1 hyperdrive. Which is correct?

According to the Nebula's Technical Specifications here on Wookieepedia, it has a Class 1 hyperdrive rating.70.224.210.19 22:08, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
In any case, there's an indiscrepency in Wookieepedia that should be fixed, if this article claims that the Nebula has a class 2 hyperdrive while the Nebula's article claims it has a class 1 hyperdrive.70.224.210.19 00:24, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
I agree. Anybody have Cracken's Threat Dossier? According to Starships of the Galaxy, the Nebula/Defender Star Destroyer has a class 1 hyperdrive. So I'd like to know from whence came the statement "like the Nebula, the Endurance had a Class 2 hyperdrive," as that seems to be either in error or in conflict. Perhaps it would be best at this moment to delete the first part of that statement, and simply say "The Endurance had a Class 2 hyperdrive..." 70.224.210.19 01:25, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
