- Bah? Why bah? -- Aidje 14:45, 5 May 2005 (UTC)
- Bah= TAB sucks. --Kosure 15:14, 5 May 2005 (UTC)
- I see. Well, um, phooey on you, too! :-) Aidje 15:20, 5 May 2005 (UTC)
- Oh Kosure is 100% right, Entechment is by far one of the most stupid ideas in all of STAR WARS. I consider it a dark stain on an otherwise solid and consistent Expanded Universe up to that point in history. It reeks of "The Dark Crystal" and the way the draconian Skeksis drained the life essence for their immortality potions. It's neither force using to fall into that realm nor is it solid technological thinking. Its a gray amoeba of pseudo science to resolve bad writing mechanics to make the story work. It was a failure in the end. The Ssi-ruuk should have been more redeemable foes but Entechment basically locked them into absolute evil. How boring. --Frank V Bonura
- Everyone always "redeeming" themselves is what is boring. All technology in Star Wars that does not exist in our world can be said to be "pseudoscientific" 190.4.72.26 17:49, May 18, 2011 (UTC)

Accuracy
Edit
I should have mentioned in the creation summary that this was written entirely from memory, so it may not be entirely accurate, although I think it is. -- Aidje 14:45, 5 May 2005 (UTC)
- Not certain they powered anything larger than a fighter with it. I know their droids, weapons, and fighers were powered thusly, but their cap-ships as well?--Eion 14:51, 5 May 2005 (UTC)
- Yeah, I remember Luke walking through the flagship slashing everything in sight to free the enteched people who were trapped in the ship. So the capital ships were powered by entechment, but they contained the life-energy of many beings, rather than a single being. I'm pretty sure about this part, but I suppose I could be wrong. -- Aidje 15:06, 5 May 2005 (UTC)
- My only experiance with these very weird aliens is from the ref books; I've never read TAB, so I'm like the last person who should fact-check this.--Eion 15:35, 5 May 2005 (UTC)
- Okay. Still, I've never heard of them anywhere except for in TAB, so if you've got any more info, certainly feel free to add it. -- Aidje 15:41, 5 May 2005 (UTC)
- I'll past what little there is in the EG. One is on the Entechment rig itself, that might be useful. After lunch.--Eion 16:20, 5 May 2005 (UTC)
- I might add that this was not about 'merely' the life energy (power) that the enteched souls brought to the machines, but also about their intelligence. The fighters were flown by the enteched souls, with great efficiency (more or less like a Vulture Droid). The Humans first suspected that they were droid fighters (because there were no lifesigns, only Luke could sense that something was amiss). Aboard the capital ships, many devices, including computers had enteched souls to run more efficiently. A similar process maybe that is utilized by the Core in Total Annihilation, namely 'putting' the personality of greatest warriors to machines and cloning them, so at the end they have an army of war machines with elite 'souls' driving them. This way the warrior is virtually immortal. As far as I remember, a Sii-ruuvi master claims at one point that entechment is a person simply passing to a more glorious life form (immortality?): you have much sturdier and deadlier body, you don't get hungry, you can't feel pain etc.Domlith 11:29, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Life energy?
Edit
What exactly is "life energy"? How is it contained within living beings/humans?190.4.72.26 17:09, May 14, 2011 (UTC)
