This article was put in the trash compactor on September 12, 2009. The result of the discussion was No consensus/Articles kept as is..

Should this article be expanded into dealing with the more popular types and themes of fanfic that flourish in the SW-fanfic communities? KEJ 10:41, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

I think that it should be expanded to inclued some of the various types of FanFic, the genre and other aspects. Maybe some examples of intresting or award winning SW-FanFic--Kyrias 06:06, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

Be careful what you wish for... I've talked this over a bit with Dark Spork, and we've thrown together a basic outline for an extended page, with some division-of-labour stuff... though additional perspectives and contributions are always welcome, especially for the bits we know nothing about...

[edit] Han, Leia, Luke, and the Original Trilogy

The original trilogy ships are Leia/Luke (The minute Star Wars fans learned they were brother and sister was coincidentally the minute Star Wars fanon went from "they did" to "they didn't".), Han/Leia (the most popular), and for the slashers, Han/Luke (not really as popular as the others, but apparently Star Wars: Retold has it).

Naturally, there isn't much ship to ship combat on the Han/Leia side of things.

  • I fudged around with the arrangement (quite a) a bit. -- Dark Spork 03:38, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
  • Mmm. Fudge. Yum. And, a skimpy prehistoric Dark Spork? Tasty, tooo... Raquel Welch impersonations subbing for repressed Mara fangirlishness?

... seriously, though: I like it... --McEwok 17:52, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] What the hell is this?

Yesterday, i saw star wars's page in fandomination and i found lots af storys about some relation bettween Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, i mean, That was just not O.K, i didn't read them, but i thgout, ¿What kind of idiotic Fanon is that? --Clone Paratrooper 00:28, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

  • You, my dear, have discovered slash. Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan is, arguably, the most popular slash pairing in SW fandom. Basically, it's all built on subtext and reading between the lines, and I'm guessing that's the nature of what you found. It's not canon, of course, but it's used as a basis for fanfic and such. It's no different from a lot of fandom theories, really. -- Dark Spork 04:33, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
    • Yeah, it's funny how squicky Star Wars slash gets when you think about it. That masters and padawans are something like father and son is squicky enough.

Well, i actually knowed about slash fiction, because of my sister, who told me about Harry Potter fanfiction, but i diden't knowed about this stuff (Qui-Gonn/Obi-Wan). --Clone Paratrooper 09:25, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

I saw a stupid Obi-Wan/Xanatos one.--69.164.73.66 01:33, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Status

Is it possible to include something about fan reactions/attitudes towards the different types of fanfic themes and genres? KEJ 20:10, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

  • I stayed away from that for feat of NPOV. But I think I'll add something under slash... Or maybe a fanfic contoversy subhead? -- Dark Spork 03:06, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New section for 'ships?

I've noticed that an increasing number of the terms in the "Fanfiction terms" section are defining different 'ships. Should those be moved into a seperate catagory? Vongchild 01:43, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] ASAACAAT

Anyone remember As Simple And As Complicated As All That? Long, sprawling, incredibly explicit NC-17 Luke/Mara epic? I should try to find the damn thing and link it... ;) Thanos6 15:17, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Yes. No. -- Dark Spork 19:04, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

A 2006 version of ASAACAAT can be found at Xia Sang Li's Livejournal[1]. It looks like she hasn't posted in a while though.

[edit] "Jysellaeon, Pellaya"

WTF? Kuralyov 19:19, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

  • People are just getting silly now. I doubt those 'ships exist for any reason other than to poke fun at the combined names. I'll be doing a cleanup soon. -- Dark Spork 20:50, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

ya Jysellaeon is more creepy than any slash i ever heard of that and Kypella (heard somewhere) why must poor Jysella Horn be paired with anyone older than Jacen CTU_Milwaukee

Jysellaeon even makes MY face do this: o_O It's pretty obvious that it's someone just being silly, and not trying to be comprehensive. In fact, I've never seen a Jysella/Pellaeon fic, although that doesn't mean they don't exist, I guess. 11thGuard 04:56, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

  • If two characters exist, they will be paired together, even if they never interacted, and the age difference is squicky.
