Talk:Fandalorian
From Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki.
[edit] Current Version
- I like the current version there now. Any objections to removing the NPOV tag? Also, I think it would be good to have a page for List of terms in Star Wars fandom where we can list this, Saxtonite, and other things. QuentinGeorge 05:20, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
- I made some minor changes, and now I agree. Kuralyov 05:35, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
- I made a minor change too, and I agree. (Kuralyov: I don't think all clone fans are "Fandalorians"... I know I don't consider myself a Fandalorian.) Ywingempress 05:39, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
- Well, in the Traviss Galaxy, clones and Mandalorians are the same thing, so I guess it seemed natural to her. Kuralyov 05:49, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
- And you wonder why people have such a hard time believing you're NPOV. Look, I don't think you're doing it consciously, but both you and Quentin have made it clear on the JC that you're anti-Fando, and that's the way the article comes off to me. Little things in phrasing and such can add up to make a huge difference in the tone. I'll try and work on the phrasing without compromising the material present. Havac 05:48, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

- Since no one has voiced any objections, I'll remove the tag then. Kuralyov 01:13, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Bad idea IMO
I think having articles like this is a bad idea. Why are people so eager to split the fan base? It just sounds like one big criticism to me. It's impossible to keep articles like this in NPOV. I say we should remove these pages entirely, but keep them listed on List of terms in Star Wars fandom. --Azizlight 06:38, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
- Agree 100%. Ywingempress 20:44, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, it sure as heck isn't NPOV as it is. Someone get a delete article banner there or something. --CommanderGree117 22:58, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
–==There's a difference== There are those who are "Fandalorians", who are obsessed with the Mando'ad and their culture, but do not live it out, and then there are those who are true Mandalorians, who are not obsessive about it, and don't wear the armor everywhere (But do own a suit of it,and will occasionally wear it), but instead hold themselves to the standards of honor, respect, and duty that the fictional Mandalorians have. There's a big difference in these two, which I have experience with, as I know several of the former, and am one of the latter. I think that once people understand this, and come to recognize the two groups as, not one group of nutcases, but two individual, distinct, and extremely different groups, then at least part of this conflict will die off. The standards of the Mandalorians are actually extremely respectful, and I know several people who admire those very qualities in me, even though they absolutely hate Star Wars. In fact, it's one of the reasons that I've got as many friends as I do. I respect other people, and don't say anything against them without good reason, and even if I dislike people, I will still defend their rights, and I respect them and their beliefs, even when they contradict mine. All of these things are an integral part of Mandalorian culture. So, yes, there is a difference, and anyone who disagrees with me can take it up with me, but may I remind you--N'jurkad Mando. <Don't mess with Mandalorians.> --Jedi Master Dominus 13:33, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
I think that people make a big deal out of this because they can not reconcile the two images that they see of Mandalorians. They see a cold hearted being on screen and think that an entire culture is that way. Mandalorians are warm heart people who just like all beings like to laugh, joke and have fun. Not all of any one group can be judged based upon the personal views of a single member. I see it as Karen Traviss and others have increased our understanding of the Mandalorians as a culture. I see them as an amalgam of several historical cultures from the Spartans to the Vikings. Each one of these were seriously hardcore warrior cultures, but each also was very family orientated and enjoyed themselves away from combat. To be fair, I will also say that when Mandalorians are at work then they are all business. They are there to do a job plain and simple. They will get it done regardless of the cost or hardships along the way. This is an admirable trait. I am a Fandalorian and am proud of it. --Tier Fett 21:56, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
I don't personally think this should be here, or at least it should be more neutral. This is exlicitly saying Fandalorians do this and do that - I've met one or two out of 30 fans who attack the Jedi. I myself might be considered Fandalorian, but most of us do love the Jedi and any other SW element and so I do. This is user Sarim Thiri, experiencing problems with login, but this had to be said IMHO. —Unsigned comment by 194.144.101.84 (talk • contribs).
