Differences from the Wikipedia version[]
I've updated the FidoNet Star Wars Echo article here on Wookieepedia to include information that was removed from the Wikipedia version of the page. Some "Wikipedia police" felt that too many of the statements made in the article came from "primary" sources -- that is, the Echo's own members -- and were not acceptable... and so they removed them and even campaigned to have the article deleted completely! (It's actually not true that primary sources are forbidden on Wikipedia -- they're just not preferred -- but whadda ya do; can't get into an "edit war".) So, Wookieepedia seems like the perfect place to reinstate much of that information... it would be a real shame to lose this little piece of Star Wars fandom history. I was a participant in the Echo, and know that the information in the Echo's Out of the Maw newsletter (the primary source of all of this) is trustworthy. However, if anyone ever finds any third-party sources for confirmation beyond TheForce.net article, please include them! -- Mecandes 21:59, September 24, 2011 (UTC)
Unfortunately, someone on Wikipedia has campaigned to have the FidoNet Star Wars Echo article deleted again, and this time they have succeeded. Please, let's keep this information available here on Wookieepedia, at least. -- Mecandes (talk) 16:58, March 8, 2016 (UTC)
