Talk:Gravity

- A physics type definition should go here, imo. Don't see the point in mentioning the accel. of Grav of Earth, unless that's to be called Standard Gravity. Beings from planets with 2-3 times standard gravity are mentioned in some SW books. - Finlayson 00:31, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- I agree, a physics definition should be added. I put the accel. of gravity because that is the standard that gravity is measured in. 9. 81 m/s is the accel. of gravity on Earth, so it is OK to assume that the majority of SW planets would have an accel. of gravity that is around that number. I noted in the article that the majority, not all of the SW planets must have an accel. of gravity near this,so I think that covers everything. AdamwankenobiTalk to me! - Made a couple changes as mentioned above. Added a basic defination at the start and did some reformatting. Added part about standard gravity in the last sentence. - Finlayson 04:26, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Escape velocity ???
Edit
Don't all spaceships fly away from the surface using repulsorlifts ? Then why do planets need to have a "low escape velocity" ? —Unsigned comment by Arnavion (talk • contribs).
- No. Repulsorlifts are only for when the ship is close to the surface. Escape velocity does not depend on propulsion type however. -Fnlayson 18:23, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
Redundant?
Edit
Why is there an article on gravity? If this were an article on anti-gravity then yes, I doubt anyone would have qualms about that but seriously, gravity? The only noteworthy mention of gravity in the entire article would be "Gravity was responsible for helping Obi-Wan Kenobi find the missing planet of Kamino, as all nearby objects were drawn towards the spot where Kamino was supposed to be, though nothing was recorded in the Jedi Archives at those coordinates." which I feel better belongs to articles on Obi-Wan, Kamino, Clone Wars, Yoda, etc. but hardly deserving of having its own article. Also, any content about repulsorlifts would be better off in their own article; they do not belong here. Granted, they are related but its akin to putting stuff on the varieties of chickens on one dedicated to omelettes. Why not have an article on electricity? It is needed for most kinds of technology to function, and not forgetting Force Lightning! Wouldn't the argument for having an article on gravity be the same for having one on electricity?? If I wanted a physics definition of gravity, I definitely wouldn't come to Wookieepedia for my answer. Songjin 05:14, March 26, 2011 (UTC)
- Don't forget that real-world physics do not necessarily apply to Star Wars universe. Imperators II(Talk) 10:45, March 26, 2011 (UTC)
