Can anyone explain to me why the Jedi Civil War doesn't count as one of the Great Schisms? —Silly Dan (talk) 16:45, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not sure but it does sound like something that could be added, because there was a massive split in the Jedi Order DAWUSS 16:43, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- There is no refrence saying that the Jedi Civil War was a "Great Schism". Futher more if you look at the material, with the single acception being the 4th one, all Great Schisms deal with the Jedi vs Dark Jedi or some group of dark-siders not Sith. Apotheoses Jedi 00:58 , 20 July 2008 (UTC-6)
Why isn't the time of the first Empire a Schism? ~ Daniel 06:29, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- My understanding, which I suppose is speculation because it hasn't been directly stated anywhere, is that the reason why Exar Kun's Great Sith War, and the Jedi Civil War, aren't considered Great Schisms, is because they specifically dealt with Sith. That is, the First Great Schism was between the Jedi Order and the Legions of Lettow, and didn't involve the Sith. The Second Great Schism was between the Exiles that became the Dark Lords of the Sith and the Jedi Order. Since the Great Sith War and Jedi Civil War are derived from the Sith of the Second Great Schism, they aren't considered separate schisms, they're simply a continuation of the Second Great Schism, in a sense. The Third Great Schism was unrelated to the Sith, and resulted in the Vultar Cataclysm. The Fourth Great Schism was when Phanius and fifty Jedi Knights left the Jedi Order. Phanius became Darth Ruin and ignited the New Sith War. However, since Phanius was included among The Lost Twenty, the Jedi apparently did not know that Phanius became Darth Ruin. Hence, due to the belief that Phanius wasn't a Sith, the Fourth Great Schism is considered a separate event, but like I said, that's just my speculation. Barringer
