Talk:Greedo the Elder

Back to page

Was Greedo the Elder born on Rodia or Tatooine? -- SFH 00:07, 12 Oct 2005 (UTC)

  • NEGTC seems to indicate that he at least "grew up on Tatooine". QuentinGeorge 06:29, 12 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Father-Son confusionEdit

If Greedo the Elder died in 17 BBY and Greedo the Younder was born in 19 BBY, then how Greedo the Younger was born? Olsonman 14:19, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

  • 19 BBY is "19 years before the Battle of Yavin", and 17 BBY is "17 years before the Battle of Yavin", i.e., two years later. So, according to those dates, Greedo Sr. died when Greedo Jr. was two. (Also, our article on Greedo Jr.'s younger brother Pqweeduk says he was born in 16 BBY. If this is correct, Greedo Sr. died while Neela was still pregnant.) —Silly Dan (talk) 21:39, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
    • Seeing as how Neela looks pregnant in the full panel of Greedo Sr.'s death, then methinks so. Trak Nar 06:54, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Greedo in TCW Edit

Greedo is making an appearance in the series, but it's unclear whether it's original Greedo or Greedo the Elder. Lucas may have reconned them to be the same character, as I believe he originally intended. 82.33.117.158 10:24, September 26, 2010 (UTC)

  • from the episode guide on SW.com "In the 1990s, the book Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina told a different tale of Greedo's past that presented him as a misguided youth orphaned by Rodian clan wars and corrupted by bounty hunters. George Lucas' take on the character established Greedo on Tatooine as of Episode I (he's around Anakin's age, and seen scuffling with Skywalker in a deleted scene included in the Episode I DVD) and the Rodian has pretty much always been a luckless thug." sounds like the same person to me GMo >:M:< 09:29, October 2, 2010 (UTC)
    • Since when are deleted scenes canon? Do we need to find a way to fit Yoda's deleted rap scene from RotS into canon too? And I don't think anything has been declared officially on the canonicity of the episode guides on the official site. RogueJedi86 16:28, October 2, 2010 (UTC)
      • The gutting of Greedo's StarWars.com Databank entry (compare with this older version) and the inclusion of TCW in the appearances of said entry confirms the worst case scenario, which is that TCW Greedo and ANH Greedo are one and the same. -- I need a name (Complain here) 19:47, October 2, 2010 (UTC)
        • So how will this be resolved? I saw one suggestion that things could be slid back 20 years earlier, but that'd require some tweaking of things like how Greedo encountered Solo on Nar Shaddaa. It's not our place to decide canon, but I'm just trying to think of ways this can be handwaved while keeping most of the pre-existing story intact, even if it involves moving it back by around 20 years. Greedo the Elder can still be Greedo's dad, just without having been a youth in TPM. Though I notice Greedo's databank profile doesn't list him as being in TPM, so there could be hope on that, though there's no way it can still be Greedo's dad given only 11-12 years having passed between TPM and TCW. RogueJedi86 23:41, October 2, 2010 (UTC)

Why can't it be Greedo's dad? 11-12 years is plenty of time to grow into a adult.

  • Anakin grew into an adult in that time-frame between episodes I and II, so it's possible. I'm going to wait and see how things play out in this season, however, just to be sure. That way I won't make silly mistakes by mixing up Greedo as Greedo the Elder and that poor guy that Han fried. Darth Nordeck 00:58, October 3, 2010 (UTC)
    • Not to mention that we don't know how long it takes a Rodian to reach adulthood. RedXIV 04:29, October 3, 2010 (UTC)
      • Actually we do. Ultimate Alien Anthology states on page 129 under "Rodian" and every species the ages of beings, as such: "Child 1-12; young adult 13-15; adult 16-35; middle age 36-49; old 50-59; venerable 60+." -- Riffsyphon1024 06:13, October 4, 2010 (UTC)
        • @RogueJedi86: Well the database doesn't have Greedo listed as being in episode I, because he never was in episode I. He only appeared in a deleted scene, so therefore he technically never was in episode I. But it seems to me that Lucas changed history again by showing there's only one Greedo. Episode 1 Deleted Scene Edit

In the Episode 1 deleted scenes documentary, George Lucas and Ben Burt agree that Greedo in episode 1 is Greedo in episode 4, so we should change the article to Greedo in episode 4.Unsigned comment by Press2mark (talk • contribs).

  • The article no longer includes the character seen in Episode I, but there is no reason to think that Greedo didn't have a father that largely fits the attributes given him by EU sources; it just requires the timeline to be fudged a bit. jSarek 13:33, November 1, 2010 (UTC)
