Halla is the name of a dormant volcano on Cheju Island, South Korea. It's also the tallest mountain in South Korea, though the second-tallest on the Korean Pensinsula, the first being Baekdu, part of it in the Stalinist North, another part in China (known as Baitou).

I guess the author who created the character must've decided to name it after a mountain.
