Talk:Hieromarn

Back to page

Since this is clearly an alias of Marn Hierogryph, should we merge and redirect, or keep it and make a mention of it on the page? - Lord Hydronium 11:19, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

  • Interesting theory, but there's no proof as of yet. Lonnyd 11:33, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
    • To expand: Heiromarn is a "wealthy industrialist" capable of funding dangerous, large-scale hunting expeditions, whereas Gryph seems to be little more than small time crime-boss. Name similarity proves nothing. They could just be common snivvian phonemes. John Jackson and Jack Johnson are similar names, but it doesnt mean they are the same person. • Heiromarn claims to be a wealthy industrialist trying to peddle a food he claims to be a delicacy onto the wealthy upper class. He's only looking for investors (i.e. money) right now and doesn't promise a return for eight months, wants it only in cash (that should be a dead giveaway right there), and wants it left with the clerk of a hotel. That's an archetypal scam. I thought it was pretty obvious that's what it was going for, especially since in the entire series we've seen only one other Snivvian, and the author had a choice in names, and chose to name it something that sounds remarkably similar to a known criminal. - Lord Hydronium 02:42, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
        • I'm not saying I disagree, just that since we havent seen confirmation, we cant put it in. We definately can't merge them yet. Maybe put it in a BTS section. Lonnyd 09:13, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
          • I see why you'd want to be cautious, but personally, I think that it's pretty clear what the author's intent was. All I'm saying is, if a book had a mysterious character with a lightsaber who called himself "Sky Lukewalker", I think it would be a fairly foregone conclusion who it was. But yeah, it can be added in as an aside. You're probably right that it wouldn't require merging even if it is an alias; Korto Vos, after all, is its own article. - Lord Hydronium 09:53, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
            • How about this? Lonnyd 13:21, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
              • Looks good, although with that wording, I don't think it needs to be in a BTS section. Any problem with making it past tense and having it be the last paragraph of the entry? - Lord Hydronium 13:35, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
                • I can live with that. Lonnyd 22:37, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
