Talk:High General
Back to page
There is some speculation in this article as to the usage of the terms "High General", "High Admiral", "Fleet Admiral" and the like. I submit that, much like in the US military (and likely those of other countries as well), individuals with those specific ranks might be frequently referred to by their more generic ranks. In the US military, a Major General will often be referred to as simply being a General, for example. That said, for the purposes of most stories, I'd guess that it would be fairly unimportant whether these specific titles refer to a situational title, or a hierarchal rank. For that matter, it could be assumed that they refer to hierarchy, unless otherwise stated. --k1darkknight 13:48, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Why are all the Jedi Generals linking here rather than Jedi General. As far as I know, there's no source which assigns any Jedi the explicit title "High General". QuentinGeorge 04:28, 2 Oct 2005 (UTC)
- The only canon material about High Generals that I know of is a brief passage in the Imperial Sourcebook which gives that title to officers commanding Systems Armies, the administrative HQs that interface between Sector Group command and field armies. I know of no source for "High General" in the clone wars, nor for the pegging of Tagge to this rank and the use of his insignia, nor for the association of High Generals with individual planetary commands. Unless anyone can provide sources for any of this, it should probably be rewritten and removed. --McEwok 16:07, 9 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- Update: the Unofficial Encyclopedia gives us "High Jedi Generals" commanding Systems Armies, terminology that looks to have been taken straight from WEG. But I doubt this means the same thing as the administrative HQ described in the ISB. I'd say two pages, and a careful discrimination between the ordinary Jedi General and the more important High Jedi General.... --McEwok 16:33, 9 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- According to Galaxy at War, the most recent source, High General is equivalent to High Admiral with a pay grade of O-13 and is superior to a Field Marshal in the Imperial Military. Moon Demon 21:25, January 19, 2011 (UTC)
