Talk:Holocron

From Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki.

What about Bastila's father's holocron? How could her father make one and her mother use it if access is restricted to the force sensitive?--Dustin Asby 00:02, 6 Nov 2005 (UTC)

  • Perhaps Bastila's father was Force-sensitive, and found one of them as part of his treasure hunts. Or perhaps whoever wrote that quest though 'holocron' just meant holographic recording device. Maybe if her father was an exile Jedi, or something, it might explain his reluctance to hand Bastila over to the Jedi. --Fade 15:45, 28 Nov 2005 (UTC)
  • Yes, either he found a Holocron during his treasure hunts, or the quest was simply miswritten, and they meant some sort of journal of his, which is the feeling I got from playing that quest, as she said it recorded important memoreis of her father so its most likely a bad word placement problem on that part...

[edit] Holocrons&Eras

Now, in the New Republic Era, would it be all but impossible for a Holocron to exist? and if it is possible, would it be possible that the said Holocron would contain anything pertaining to how to create one? just wondering... btw, how do you create a Holocron...

[edit] Rakatan Origins?

According to Abel Pena's Hyperspace article "Evil Never Dies: The Sith Dynasties", Holocron technology came into Sith possession some three thousand years prior to the Republic's founding during first contact between the Rakata and the Sith under King Adas.

Misshapen Force-sensitive beings, these Rakatan soldiers of the so-called Infinite Empire first attempted to lull King Adas into their confidence by teaching him how to record his essence into a pyramidal, magical device called a holocron.

So is it possible that Jedi discovered the technology on their own, or if they adapted what they learned from studying pre-Republic artifacts linked to the Force? Since the origins of Sith Holocrons seems to be sourced from the Rakata, I think it should at least be reflected in the article. Opinions? Randystarkiller 23:44, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Self-activating holocron?

In Star Wars Republic 33: Darkness, Part 2 p. 14, the holocron containing info about the imprisonment of Volfe Karkko is said to have activated itself to reveal this crucial info. Apparently, it hadn't activated in 13 generations. DarthMRN 13:20, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Atris and Sith Holocrons

In Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, Atris is seduced to the dark side by the Sith holocrons and the information that they contained. How much power do they really have? I know that the Jedi Exile had the opportunity to leave Atris at the mercy of the holocrons, but chose to save her. The holocrons taunt Atris the entire way through that fateful conversation. Any way these remarks could be included in a positive way? Jedi Master Fiolli 14:08, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
