The name Ibtisam
Edit
The name Ibtisam is Arabic, like the name of that other Mon Calamari, Ackbar. The name means smile. As with Ackbar's page, I've added the origin and meaning of this name to the behind the scenes section of this article, but for unexplained reasons my addition has been reverted twice. Can anyone explain why? I have a reference for it too, but can't add it yet due to my account being too new. Jawajuice 00:38, February 25, 2010 (UTC)
- I thank you for taking your concerns to the talk page here rather than perpetuating an edit war. First of all, no one is disputing the origin of the name. I reverted because I think it's unnecessary to include this in the article. We try to make Behind-the-scenes content canonically verifiable by an official source, which this information is not. There is nothing directly linking the origin of this name to the Star Wars character. If Michael Stackpole had said in a blog, for example, that he was influenced by Arabic culture or intentionally chose to use this name based on the character's personality or something like that, then that would be totally different. But as far as I can see, this isn't the case. Toprawa and Ralltiir 01:04, February 25, 2010 (UTC)
- I can see your point, but I added the part because of this info in the Ackbar bts section: "The word akbar means great in Arabic, as in the commonly-heard saying, "Allāhu Akbar", which means "God is great." Akbar was also a powerful Mughal Empire Shah." There was a precedent, so my edit wasn't out of nowhere. Why is it acceptable there, but not here? Jawajuice 04:18, February 25, 2010 (UTC)
Insider
Edit
I added the Update tag to the article for new content found in Star Wars Insider 129. Leland Chee spells out some personality characteristics for the character, including how they relate to her homeworld's Mon Calamari-Quarren rivalry, that I don't necessarily see elaborated upon in the article.
