[edit] Height

Tee hee. Jaina is such a midget. 1.49 m = 4 ft 10.5 inches. QuentinGeorge 11:38, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • Is the 1.49 m designation up to date with her height in the Dark Nest series? Judging from images from the New Jedi Order (cover art and so on) she doesn't look THAT small, especially in comparison to others. Danik Kreldin 07:45, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
    • The picture of her standing next to 1.77 meter (5' 10.7") tall Zekk shows Jaina to be just a few inches shorter than him. I'd guess she's now about 5' 6" (1.68 meters) or so. Also, based on this picture, since Jacen is less than an inch taller than Zekk, we can see that Jaina is probably a few inches taller than Tenel Ka, who I don't recall ever being indicated as a midget. But my guess obviously isn't canon, so don't anybody put it in the infobox. Please. Red XIV 18:30, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
  • Yes, it sounds strange that she is even shorter than her mother and 30 cm shorter than her twin. Also in Remnant, Jaina describes Tahiri as "a little shorter than her". Bodo-Baas 19:52, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
  • I can't find the exact reference, but I believe that somewhere in Balance Point there's an exchange between Leia and Jaina that mentions that Jaina is "a few centimeters taller" than her mother. Leia is listed here as 1.56 meters, so Jaina is probably somewhere around 1.60 meters, depending on what defines "a few centimeters." Ubiqtorate 05:56, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
  • In Betrayal, Leia and Han discuss Jaina's taste for taller men, which may possibly hint a tall love interest for Jaina in the Legacy Era. If her height is accurate, it would appear she has little choice...YIIMM 09:36, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
  • The New Essential Guide to Characters puts Jaina's height at 1.49 meters. Pictures do not seem to agree with that.SithGirl132 18:33, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

This height discrepancy, referencing 1.49 meters from the Essential Guide to Characters is from when Jaina was younger. It stands to reason that she grew a little since being 15 years old. Zadi 17:21, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Imagery

I think this article needs more imagery. We only have an image of Jaina Solo as a starfighter pilot in Twin Suns Squadron though we don't have one of her as a child or adolescent. Didn't she play an important role in the Young Jedi Knights series. During a [1] on Google Images, I found lots of images of her. --User:MyNz

  • Some of those are fan images, but you are right in that we need more images of here. -- SFH 17:04, 13 Nov 2005 (UTC)
  • Perhaps, but she is way too old in the picture for the "First Corellian Insurrection". She was supposed to be nine. That picture is from the first "Essential Guide to Characters" which came out in 1995, about the same time as the "Young Jedi Knights" series, and she looks about old enough for it to be from then. Unsigned comment by 67.129.120.253 (talk • contribs).
    • The Corellian trilogy came out in 1995 too. I fail to see what the publishing date has to do with it though. They could have drawn an older Jainia in the Guide. -Fnlayson 04:42, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi...I have a question. How come Jaina's picture from the New Essential Guide To Characters isn't in the article? IMO, its a really good portrayal of the character. We better see her resemblance to Leia- LordNyax113 2:04 P.M., August 1, 2007.

[edit] Quote

Does someone else besides me think that the "Sword of the Jedi" quote should be there in its entity? It's quite long though, so I didn't want to add it before asking what you guys think. --Tinwe 09:32, 13 Nov 2005 (UTC)

  • I'm assuming that you meant it's entirety, but as the one who put it in, I shortened it to get the important info in. -- SFH 17:04, 13 Nov 2005 (UTC)
  • Entirety, that's right. Twelve years of English studying and I still can't get the words right... :) Anyway, shouldn't the whole thing be somewhere in the article? --Tinwe 07:48, 14 Nov 2005 (UTC)
    • The full quote you are refering to is in the quote link near the bottom of the article so I personally feel that this is enough for now. Perhaps we could put the rest of the quote in the non-history sections (e.g behind the scenes, personality, trivia)--24.82.153.0 05:41, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Zekk/Jaina Picture

Just wanted to asked TPTB why the pic of Zekk and Jaina was removed "until the article grows"? I thought it was a good pic and belonged in this article no matter how short that section is. Besides, Zekk's entry has that pic and that article is much shorter than Jaina's. Jed-eye 08:49, 4 Jan 2006 (UTC)

    • The article isn't big enough to support the picture. It just messes the page up. --Master Starkeiller 11:32, 4 Jan 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Reason for Expansion

This article can be expanded much further most notably the Jedi Training and the Yuuzhan Vong War sections. She's one of the most famous Expanded Universearticles and deserves a far better and larger article. MyNz 23:11, 6 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Picture

  • I really think the old pic was better, mainly because it fits our policy of preferring closeup head and shoulders pics for the character boxes. QuentinGeorge 01:16, 15 Jan 2006 (UTC
    • Then, we can have the old pic :-). I just felt that Jaina was in need of more pictures and a picture change. Mirlen 18:44, 15 Jan 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Still a Joiner?

This is a spoiler if you haven't read Swarm War yet.

Anyway, at the end of Swarm War, it doesn't say whether or not Zekk become unjoined.. though the article does state it, I don't think the book says so. Unless I missed it. I do hope they are no longer Joiners, as that whole thing kind of annoyed me. But anyway, where does it state in the book that their minds are no longer linked?Unsigned comment by Danik Kreldin (talk • contribs).

  • Oh by the Force, the whole Joiner thing annoyed me too! I really got to like everyone in the Myrkr Strike team and then they all go crazy! Luckily it does seem that the ones who left early are recovering. Jaina and Zekk seem to be a different story for two reasons. One they were in the nest much much longer then any of the others and anyone who has read the books know what that means. And two they aren't just joined to a nest, they are joined to each other. They really truely seem to have become one mind in an even more intimate fashion than the Luke/Mara bond formed from Jedi battle melds. I think they will be able to break their nest bonds but can they break their personal bond and become two people again? I really don't know. I think what is really going to determine that is how Jag plays his cards. It is obvious that Jaina still has feelings for him and Zekk is jealous. I think that if Jag really tried to reach Jaina he could tear her away from Zekk and break the mind sharing.--Kyp-Durron 20:35, 7 July 2006 (UTC)Kyp-Durron
    • Having read The Swarm War I can conclusively say that nowhere in the english copies are we told they underwent conditioning. However their time amongst other nests in that book has badly eroded their Joiner bond. I'll edit the main article appropriately. If someone can provide an actual quote from the book then feel free to change it back. Guest: Darth Carl99 Unsigned comment by 79.69.168.36 (talk • contribs).
      • Leave it be. That was mentioned in Betrayal or later LOF book, I believe. -Fnlayson 20:25, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Pronounciation

So, how do you pronounce Jaina's name? is it:

"jane-a" as in Jane (from Tarzan);

"gina" as in vagina;

"J" as in "jippee" (see Anakin Skywalker) followed by "ina";

or something else alltogether? --BaldFett 13:47, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

  • And I always thought it was the second one. But heck, what do I know, I'm not even native. Maybe someone should ask Tim Zahn :) --Tinwe 14:31, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
  • It's "Jay-na" Jaina Solo 17:48, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
  • The New Essential Guide to Characters gives the pronunciations.--Darth Oblivion 23:23, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
  • the other night i was watching G4 tv show cheats, and they tried acting like the "Jaina" cheat was a big deal. and the stupid host chick pronounced her name : Johna instead of Jayna. so i broke out laughing...Darth Depressis
  • I never accredited anyone on G4 with an overabundance of brains. Anyway, I believe it to be "Jay-na". I initially thought it was pronounced "Jenna", but then I pulled my head out of my ass.
  • "Jay-na", like "Jane" with an A on the end, is what the Guide to Characters indicated, and what I figured.SithGirl132 18:35, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Betrayal paragraph

that is such appalling writing it's just not true...she's such a focal character can someone please update that with some skill for the good of Wookiepedia? Unsigned comment by 86.137.198.138 (talk • contribs).

[edit] Traitor Quote

Does the last sentence in the "Traitor?..." quote in the Rising Tensions section seem grammatically off to anyone else? I have no idea where it's from or I'd look it up myself. Sionay 19:10, 6 Jan 2007 (UTC)

  • that's neither here nor there. We can't edit a quote from the book. By the way, yes it is the actual quote, and no I can't believe that they fumbled on a cool sounding retort like that.Darth Balls 22:03, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Quotes don't have to be grammatically perfect anyway. It's more realistic if they aren't so perfect, imo. -Fnlayson 22:10, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Abilities?

I was just curious as to why Jaina has no Abilities section, almost every other Jedi and most of the other characters have an "Abilities" section near the personality section. Are many of Jaina's abilities unknown? Is there any real reason she does not have this section or was it just forgotten? if anyone can clear this up/fix it id appreciate it. I ask only because I don't know enough about Jaina myself. AzureAngel 13:41, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

  • I always thought the Abilities section was for abilities that were not part of the normal abilities most every Jedi possessed. Or normal abilities that the character was exceptionally more powerful in. So it just might be that Jaina hasn't yet demonstrated any special traits yet. I don't doubt she has them, but being a fighter pilot, maybe she just hasn't taken the time to hone any. - JMAS 14:00, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
  • She does learn shatterpoint in Invincible, but it is not used for the rest of the book. The fact that she can intiate a Jedi Meld is less important since in the NJO it is much more common an ability than it was in the Old Republic Jedi Order (Jorus C'boath's use of this was mentioned for instance but the Myrkr jedi who could do this were not)--24.82.153.0 06:04, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
    • Yeah, I agree that the abilities section generally only exists if the character has outstanding abilities or characteristics of some kind. And, in comparison, to, say her two brothers, (Anakin was considered extremely gifted and a genius, and Jacen, who achieved a perfect balance of light and dark sides of the force to end the Yuuzhan Vong War, she doesn't have much. Except, of course the piloting, shatterpoints, mind melds and exclusive training under Boba Fett. Also, you could say that she was a good lightsaber combatant, since Jacen was considered by Luke to be very dangerous, and she killed him...Zadi 14:11, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
      • Powers and abilities section added. I tried to make it fairly comprehensive, but I'm sure more could be added. Atarumaster88 (Talk page) 15:01, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
        • On the German side, I mentioned that she can erase memories what Jaina learned by Kyp Durron in Dark Journey. Wynssa Fel 18:30, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Adding Fett to "Known Masters" list. Anyone object?

Though Boba Fett isn't a Jedi Master, that's hardly a prerequisite for being added to the "Known Masters" list. I think that her receiving such crucial seriously specialized training at the feet of Fett certainly qualifies him of being listed as one of her masters. If no one objects, I'll do so as: Boba Fett (Informal).--Master Dakari 05:11, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

  • Do not add Boba Fett to known Masters. He is not Jaina's Master any more than Giles Durane is Leia's Master or Kal Skirata is Etain Tur-Mukan's Master. In order for a character to be added as a Master, some Force-sensitivity is implied, so it is a prerequisite. Once again, until Boba Fett exhibits Force-sensitivity and acts as Jedi/Sith/Fallanassi/Zeison Sha/whatever group's Force Master, do not place him as a Master. Atarumaster88 (Talk page) 15:32, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
    • Okay, so could you link me to the rule that says that "known masters" must be Force-sensitive? Even Jedi can learn things from non-Force-sensitives. Having hunted and killed many Jedi the majority of his life, Boba Fett clearly has the knowledge, skill, and wealth of experience that she needs in order to take her brother down. She needs training that he hasn't had. Both of these two sentences can be sourced many times in Revelation, in Jaina and Boba's own words. She even says she has apprenticed herself under Boba. So, how can he legitimately be left out as one of her masters? He is one of her masters, Force-sensitive or not, because he is teaching her crucial special training that she would not have received otherwise, even from Force-sensitives (with the exception of Gotab or Venku, of course).--Master Dakari 18:37, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
      • Uhh...per Ataru. "Masters" is for formal Jedi masters, not just general teachers. And while this may not be backed up in policy, it is backed up in precedent and common practice. But by all means start a CT if you feel strongly about having non-formal non-Jedi teachers in the "Masters" field. -- AdmirableAckbar (Talk) 18:46, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
        • Dakari, look at at every single character Force-sensitive character FA or GA. I won't say every article, but the vast majority of them follow the precedent of having only Jedi/Sith/whatever Force user as Master. It's too confusing otherwise. Furthermore, what Jedi has Boba Fett killed? As far as we know, just one. Second, all of those statements that are sourced in Revelation that you refer to are Jaina's opinion, not explicit fact. All of this is completely beside the point that the Master field is only for Force-sensitive instructors. I can cite numerous examples of Jedi/Sith/whatever learning from non-Force users and it's not in the Master field. So please, stop adding Boba Fett to the Masters field and take a look at how the site works before you advocate broad changes based on your whims.

Examples

Han Solo teaches Luke Skywalker how to disarm a guard droid. (The Last Command)--not listed.
Giles Durane teaches Leia Organa Solo about self defense. (The Princess Leia Diaries, The Weapons Master)--not listed.
Any of Keyan Farlander's trainers. (Star Wars: X-wing)--not listed.
HK-47 teaches the Jedi Exile on how to fight Jedi (a clear parallel to this situation) (KotOR II)--not listed.
The only possible exception might be Ulic Qel-Droma and Vima Sunrider, but Ulic, at least at one point, was Force-sensitive.

In short, there is neither precedent, nor sound argument, nor common practice to justify placing Fett in the Masters section. Atarumaster88 (Talk page) 19:39, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

"So please, stop adding Boba Fett to the Masters field and take a look at how the site works before you advocate broad changes based on your whims."

Well, considering as I only did it ONCE - and haven't touched the article since it was reverted back - I don't think the first part of that comment was really necessary. And as for policy, fine. But just to let you know, regardless of whether it has been established by precedent or example, having "No non-Force-sensitive masters" stated clearly in the rules of the site would give the authority behind that argument more credibility. A law is only as effective as it is enforced; and in this case, there is no law to enforce. I'm not going to add him back to the list because it's clear I'm outvoted. I'm just saying "Heads up" before you try to prohibit something that's actually permissible according to the [written] rules of the site. And just so you know, I'm not saying this in a mean or snooty way, but simply as a word of advice.--Master Dakari 00:04, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Empress Speculation?

Should this article have a similar area in it that references the possiblity that Jaina is the reason for the force sensitivity of the Fel Emperor's family? This would be similar to Jagged Fel's article that speculates this as well. I understand both sides of including it and not including this information, since it is not yet canon in any way, but I just figured I'd throw it out there. Zadi 16:25, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

  • Well, as of Invincible, Fel is established as having a large role in the Imperial Remnant, and despite a dozen novels where Jaina and Jag are on-again, off-again, it just hasn't happened yet. I prefer not to place that sort of speculation on the article just yet, as it really isn't notable enough or worthy enough to speak on; there's not even an attached family lineage to show that Jaina is related. Atarumaster88 (Talk page) 16:31, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

I say no for the same reasons. For all anyone knows, Jagged Fel will marry someone else and his son will marry Alanna in order to put Force Sensitive blood into the Fel lineage. I could see the writers doing this just to throw the presumptions for a loop. So, until she actually takes the reins of Empress then there's nothing to be gained from speculating. 67.189.16.108 06:21, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] New Image for infobox

In my opinion, the current infobox image needs to be changed, since the current image depicts Jaina near the end of the Vong war, about 10 years before the LOTF series. The one that I would like to change it to depicts her 5 years before the LOTF series, which is the most recent image other than the one of her fighting Darth Caedus.--Jedi Kasra 23:42, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Current

  1. I think that in both images she looks about the same age. However, the suggested image is at an odd angle , whereas the current image is a nice, head-on head and shoulders image. Zadi 11:45, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
  2. The issue has to do with availability/variety of images as well. If we use Dark Nest Jaina, than what do we place in her Dark Nest section? Ditto with the awful-looking one from Invincible. Leave it as is. Atarumaster88 (Talk page) 13:33, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Comments

If a more recent image is desired, perhaps these images should be considered, both are from later novels in the NJO. It is unfortunate that the LOTF novels did not yield good images of her.

Zadi 14:01, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

  • Uh, the Vong war ended in 29 ABY. The Dark Nest Crisis started in 35 ABY. Six years difference. That's why I suggested the pic. But of course, we could wait for future book covers and such, while using a more out-of-date pic than the Swarm War one.--Jedi Kasra 04:32, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
    • Not to mention that she looks more like a kid in the current pic, (yeah, I know she's near 20), and during the Swarm War she was 26 to 27 years old, which is closer to 40 ABY than the current pic. Had Jacen been redeemed, would we have used the Vong War pic? Couldn't somebody fix it so that Jacen isn't in it?--Jedi Kasra 04:46, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
