From the ArticleEdit

From the article:

Yoda investigated the missing planet Kamino from the Archives and found at least 37 additional systems that were erased, including Dagobah and Dromund Kaas. He kept the former secret for his eventual exile.

What is the source for this specific line? Do we know the names of all 38 planets erased, or just those three? Should there be an article specifically for this topic, or at least a category called "Planets erased from the Jedi Archives" for those? MaclimesZero 20:13, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

Quick question: should someone try a redirect from the search "archive" to here, and lead to a disambugation page? I'm sure that the Baobab Archives or whatever they're called are less searched for. But the disambugation could make it more wiki-style. Just wondering. Keelu Kenobi 22:18, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Jocasta QuoteEdit

Isn't it "If a system does not appear in our records, then it does not exist"? Gonk 01:39, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

  • And?... She was wrong, of course. Klow 13:34, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Qui-Gon Jinn's bustEdit

Where is it said there was a Q-GJ bust in the Jedi Library? I'm currently trying to set a map of it, and I would be interested to know. Was it part of the bust shown for the Star Wars Exhibition, or... ? LelalMekha 11:18, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Cool a map. Neat project. As to Qui-Gon's bust; its in the Essential Guide to the Force, the page after the intro I believe. There is a really nice shot of the Archives from amidst the Stacks, and the bust in question is seen. Purpilia 23:51, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Oh, there is a shot of it? Could you please scan it for me, if you don't mind? I'd be interested. LelalMekha 20:42, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

    • Sure, but it may be a few days until I am around a scanner. I will work as quickly as I can though! Purpilia 00:33, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
      • That's ok, I'll be waiting. ;) Thanks. LelalMekha 13:33, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
        • Are you still up there, Purpilia? LelalMekha 21:49, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Proposed merge of the Archives article and the library articleEdit

My reason for separating the articles in the first place was because of how the Archives seems to be set up. There is the Main hall of the Archives which are the four halls and the rotunda discussed in this article. Than there is the analysis rooms, the holocron vaults and than the library. While they are all under the same header I have reason to believe they are all in separate locations in the Temple. As all the other satellite areas of the Archives had separate articles, I made the library one. I think there is enough information that pertains to solely the library that it can warrant a separate article. However, it is not only my opinion that decides the merge. I am open to other users' opinions. Purpilia 06:00, January 24, 2010 (UTC)

  • I admit I didn't study the locations of the Jedi Temple properly, but by the look of it this room seems to the the same as this one, doesn't it? MauserComlink 07:54, January 24, 2010 (UTC)
    • I agree, it looks like I am nitpicking, but making the place seen in TCW the library is my way of reconciling the room's layout with existing continuity. If you look at the images of the library as I have named it, the room is circular, with many halls coming off of it like axles on a bike. The Archives hall however only has four halls. The Complete Locations book describes a "Library and Archives dat a storage stacks, with Analysis Rooms behind," and the "Jedi Archives and Library. Main hall of Archives is 2,500 years old.". From the sources that I have read detailing the Archives and library, (i.e. Rule of Two and Abyss) it seems to me that the main hall which has very specific archived material, (all of which is more specifically described in the article) is separate from the library which has all the other basic information that you would find in a library. Now again, I mainly did it to reconcile the differences in layout and I may have been incorrect in assuming them to be separate location. However I do believe I have evidence to back up my claim as noted above. Unsigned comment by Purpilia (talk • contribs).
      • If you look closely at those two images, Mauser, they are definitely not the same room. - JMAS Jolly Trooper.png Hey, it's me! 21:42, February 3, 2010 (UTC)

Why merge?Edit

Why did we merge the page with the library? We hadn't even fully discussed it. As I was explaining to Mauser who proposed the merge, the Archives as we have seen it in the movie/shows and novels/sourcebooks show several different facits. From the Eu we are told that the whole setup of Jedi lore and knowledge is controled by the Council of First Knowledge. We know that the Council is responisble for the Librarian's Assembly, who in turn runs the Archives. From what we know we can conclude that the Archives, Library, Analysis Rooms, Holocron Vault and Chamber, Pinnacle Room and any other facility in the Temple that has any shread of Galactic history is operated by the Council of First Knowledge. As the Archives page kind of seems to be the central body of the whole set-up the page has the subsection for each.

Now regarding the Library; as I posted above, you can see sevarl sources describe a library and archives. Ahsoka herself says that she is going to study in the library. Aside from mentions and what not, there are structural differences. There are no busts in the library as seen in TCW. There are also many more halls of the central rotunda and the outer walls are different from the main hall of the Archives glimpsed in AOTC. Yes, tese details are minor but they are there. As I have described it, deeming the room seen in TCW actually keeps continuity with established sources.

Definition of Archive from Wikipedia: An archives is a collection of historical records, as well as the place they are located. Archives contain primary source documents that have accumulated over the course of an individual or organization's lifetime.

In general, archives consist of records that have been selected for permanent or long-term preservation on grounds of their enduring cultural, historical, or evidentiary value. Archival records are normally unpublished and almost always unique, unlike books or magazines for which many identical copies exist. This means that archives (the places) are quite distinct from libraries with regard to their functions and organization, although archival collections can often be found within library buildings.

Definition of Library from Wikipedia: A library is a collection of sources, resources, and services, and the structure in which it is housed; it is organized for use and maintained by a public body, an institution, or a private individual. In the more traditional sense, a library is a collection of books. It can mean the collection, the building or room that houses such a collection, or both. The term "library" has itself acquired a secondary meaning: "a collection of useful material for common use," and in this sense is used in fields such as computer science, mathematics, statistics, electronics and biology.

In conclusion, I wish to appeal the merge and have it reverted back into two seperate articles. Purpilia 21:33, February 3, 2010 (UTC)

Season ThreeEdit

Guys, I saw a little clip called Star Wars The Clone Wars Truly Cinematic and it shows Ahsoka gasping in a chair in the Archives. Can we please add Season Three to the appereance list.
