Sifo-DyasEdit

Bold textI think that Sipho-Dyas was also a Master, should he be there then? Moff Rebus 22:53, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I agree with you Moff Rebus. Sifo-Dyas was a master (see the pic -> Sifo-Dyas) --Inmobilus 18:23, 8 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Two Rare Circumstances... Edit

In the introduction of this article, there is a statement that mentions two rare circumstance in which Jedi were put on the Council without having the prerequiste of having the rank of Jedi Master. I know that one of these instances includes when the Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker was placed on the Council as the personal advisor to Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, but what of the other circumstance? Who was the other exeception? If anyone could answer this, it would be of great appreciation... OxfordScholar09 16:58, 18 Jul 2006

If memory serves, Ki-Adi-Mundi was a Jedi Knight in TPM and was a member of the council at that time. Unsigned comment by 64.222.146.215 (talk • contribs). 7/25/06

  • If it includes the New Jedi Order, Jedi Knight (but not Master) Saba Sebatyne was put on the council when Luke first rebuilt it, partially to represent her squadron and partially so the knights would have a voice.

How Many? Edit

Are we going to put *every* Jedi Master on this page. Why? QuentinGeorge 06:09, 10 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Due to the term "Knight" being used to referr Jedi of all ranks at certain times, and due to Knights with Padawans being referred to as "Master", it's impossible to determine in the case of more than 90% of non-Padawan Jedi ever named if they were either Knights or Masters...I think the list should go...If I don't see much retaliation, I will delete it myself... --Ace ETP 19:08, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)

More than ten days seem to have passed since anyone even bothered doing anything with the (extremely unnecesary) list, so...it shall cease to exist... --Ace ETP 17:16, 9 Sep 2005 (UTC)

  • Thank you, you have just dropped a lot of people's effort to the dustbin. I hope you are proud of yourself. If you don't like the list, no-one obligates you to look at it. TopAce
  • I could spend weeks writing an essay about glass-blowing and put it up on the Millenium Falcon's page, but it doesn't mean it would be appropiate or that I could tell people asking me to remove it that I'm not forcing them to look at it. Won't you at least admit that's impossible to determine in the case of most Jedi if they were either Masters or Knights, and that therefore your list is impossible to complete and mostly based on assumptions? --Ace_ETP 18:14, 14 Sep 2005 (UTC)
  • Only Obi-Wan was called Master when he was a Jedi Knight because he was the only Jedi Knight who received a Padawan before reaching the title of master. Qui-Gon's last will. Period. TopAce
  • You're wrong. Obi-Wan was not the only Jedi Knight to receive a Padawan before becoming a Master. Both Knights and Masters trained Padawans. Entering a Padawan into Knighthood was a requirement if you wanted to be made a Master, except for special cases such as Obi-Wan or Saesee Tiin, who were made Masters because of having performed amazing deeds or servies. --Ace_ETP 22:02, 14 Sep 2005 (UTC)
    • Exhibit A: A'Sharad Hett. Exhibit B: Dooku before Qui-Gon Jinn had completed his training. In essence, almost EVERY Jedi is merely a knight when they are training their first padawan.
    • PS Obi-Wan was made a Jedi Master for completing Anakin's training - same as most of his peers. QuentinGeorge 06:43, 15 Sep 2005 (UTC)
  • So, can we please get rid of the list? We already have the List of all Jedi, which faces problems such as "Should we include Dark Jedi?" or "Does this guy count as a Padawan or an Initiate?"...Do we really need another long confusing list of characters that we can't even determine for sure if they belong or not? Specially when source material will never fully reveal the truth, and when the people interpreting it are reading into it wrongly (No offense). --Ace_ETP 00:17, 16 Sep 2005 (UTC)
    • Any time you delete this list, I will revert edit it, so it makes no sense. And yes, we also have a list of Jedi Masters among the categories, but that says nothing about the Master being on/off the Council and does not tell the era the Master belongs to. If you want, we could reduce this list to mention only the notable ones from the Clone Wars cartoon, the movies and the novels. i.e.: I am not sure everyone knows who Cin Drallig is, I have only heard about him while browsing this wiki. The list IS useful. TopAce
  • Sigh...there is no need for either of us to be abusing the equal power that is granted to all users to make this a concise and factual encyclopedia...I don't share your views on this matter, and I think that more people should intervene, but if you don't like the idea of deleting the list, then please, as you said, make sure it only includes Notable Jedi Masters, because it's impossible to determine what was the actual rank if more than half of the Jedi in your list. Also, those notes such as "he joined the Dark Side of the force" or "one to become a councillor before being a Master" only add confusion, people can find about those things by going to the articles to the respective characters. --Ace_ETP 20:22, 16 Sep 2005 (UTC)
    • Edited. Now, can this downright subjective debate be over TopAce
  • Agreed. --Ace_ETP 22:39, 27 Sep 2005 (UTC

Restructuring Edit

I rearranged the list based on last names, since it seems to be the convention everywhere else. Also, removed Jaden Korr, no idea what (s)he was doing here. - Sikon [Talk] 14:12, 16 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Ki-Adi-Mundi Edit

  • Why does Anakin say no one has ever been placed on the Council and not been made a Master? This happened to Ki-Adi-Mundi as well. - Novajoe23 19:01, 20 Nov 2005 (UTC)
    • Look at Tasty Taste's blog on the official site, it says he was "in the process of" becoming a Master, so it's not the same as Anakin. Unsigned comment by 216.221.96.201 (talk • contribs).

How many jedi masters are there in the new jedi order?Edit

I'd wanted to knew 'cause i was insirped by the jedi watchman qeustion that i had on the disccusion board of that same article. And it was an question of if there's any new jedi order watchmen. And my answer was there's none really since there's not enough. So i want to know how many jedi masters there were in the new order since it is hinted that there's not as many as there were in the old order.Thanks. How does an master in the New Jedi Order become an master? Do they go through it the same staues as the old order? I'd just wanted to knew.Thanks. Unsigned comment by 206.180.134.23 (talk • contribs).

  • What is Jaden Korr doing listed as a member of the Masters' Council? -- SFH 06:11, 23 Dec 2005 (UTC)
    • It must be a misunderstanding. When I first heard what Kyle said to him in the end of Jedi Academy, it also seemed to me to imply that Jaden would be a Council member. If he's still there, I will remove him. - TopAce 15:21, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Jacen? Edit

Has Jacen Solo yet attained the rank? The Ben Skywalker page notes him as Ben's "Jedi Master". Although this may just be a descriptive term implying that he is both a Jedi and somebody's master and not an actual rank. Unsigned comment by 69.205.234.209 (talk • contribs).

  • We'll have to wait for Betrayal--Erl 00:26, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

k im not sure how to do this but if i edited this by accident please dont block me im trying to comment. I think the article should say three rare exceptions as saba sabetyne was on the new jedi council before she acheived the rank of master. Unsigned comment by 69.26.85.144 (talk • contribs).

  • Really? Can we get confirmation on this? .... 07:38, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
    • Destiny's Way, page 258-259 in the paperback edition.

Master disappointments Edit

It is too bad that Lucas and others have Jedi Masters fighting with lightsabers. Prior to when Jedi Search came out, I had assumed that Jedi Masters were simply Jedi that choose to fight without lightsabers. Clearly as shown in the prequels, Jedi have ways of fighting without them. Will (Talk - contribs) 22:35, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

The Exile a Master? Edit

Why is the Exile on the list? She never became a Master?--Jedi Kasra 13:23, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

  • She may or may not have become a Jedi Master. It was that, a Weapon Master, or a Watchman.Yinyang 04:21, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
    • But don't you have to be a Jedi Master to be a Jedi Weapon Master? I thought Jedi Master was a rank while Weapon Master was a title that implied that he or she was completely dedicated to Combat, and Watchman was a title too, for someone that guarded a planet or starsystem? In that case shouldn't she have the rank of jedi master, but it is unknown which title, if any, she had?
      • I think Jedi Master is a rank itself, and the other ranks are just prestige classes. Pure Jedi masters study the mysteries of the Force. Should we add that? Jedi Striker 14:01, 7 May 2008 (UTC).
  • Now that Revan has been published and we have a fuller understanding of the Exile—now known to be Meetra Surik—it is right that we finally recognize her as a Jedi Master. When we finally meet her character for the first time in Part Two of Revan, she is wearing Jedi Master robes. This is obviously indicative of her choice to assume that title for herself and to train her party members as Jedi. In addition to this, it has been confirmed to me by email correspondence with Drew Karpyshyn that she and Revan both "were clearly Jedi Masters based on their accomplishments, and I'm sure at some point they would have been recognized by the Order as such." So there we have it: Meetra Surik was a Jedi Master.--Master Dakari 04:25, February 10, 2012 (UTC)

yoda? Edit

yoda is a jedi GRAND master not a jedi master so why is he the primary pic?Darth exeltonRepublic Emblem(talk) 02:21, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

First Sentence Edit

Is master really the second highest rank? Council Member and Grand Master are both higher so wouldn't that make it third? 86.184.16.253 17:27, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
