The Original TwelveEdit

We actually don't know all of the original twelve yet. The ones who've been confirmed are:

At this point, no one else has been confirmed. The alleged "Harlan" character often bandied about as being a member of the original students is merely a character creation example from The Jedi Academy Sourcebook that shouldn't be treated as representing someone who actually exists in the Star Wars Galaxy; Leland Chee is quoted saying as much here (unfortunately, the original TOS post stating this has apparently since been deleted). Many other alleged members of the original twelve (including Keyan Farlander, Havet Storm, and Desann) were quite likely early students, but at no point have been confirmed as being members of the Original Twelve; they may be good speculative choices, but they aren't fact, which is what this encyclopedia strives to present. jSarek 08:52, 22 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Is their a number for the total padawans the original 12 had, and for that matter how many Jedi are in the New Republic?

Jedi Praxeum vs Jedi praxeum Edit

I can't recall what sources beyond the Jedi Academy series use, but in that series, this academy has "praxeum" in lower case. What do later sources do? --SparqMan 06:40, 25 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Padawan Edit

Near the end of the article it mentions the word padawan. The term padawan was no longer used to my knowledge... But I may very well be mistaken.

Another PraxeumEdit

  • I found this in another article: "Reboam was the site of a Jedi Praxeum which Darth Vader sealed with its Jedi trapped inside." Maybe it can be incorporated into this article. Jaywin 00:32, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Jedi Masters Edit

A paragraph in the Prodigal sons section states:

It is worth noting that all three were to become central figures in Skywalker's Jedi Order. By the start of the Crisis of the Disciples of Ragnos both Katarn and Horn had obtained the rank of Jedi Master and had several appreintices under their tutelage. Jade would also eventually advance to the rank of Jedi Master.

Katarn probably was a Master then, but the others came later. Jade became a Master by about 25 ABY. Horn become a Master before 35 ABY. Going to try and reword that to match. -Fnlayson 21:40, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

starting Edit

what was the date in which the academy was opened? Quinlanfan 03:31, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

  • In 11 ABY. See the Jedi Academy books. -Fnlayson 03:37, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
    • Or read the article. It states this in the intro paragraph. --Eyrezer 04:05, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
      • No duh. I just added that cause of this question. ;) -Fnlayson 04:13, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
        • Damn wikis, and their frequent changes! Nice work Fnlayson. :o) --Eyrezer 04:57, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Why two articles?Edit

Why is is that the Great Temple and the Praxeum are two separate articles? They are the same location, although refurbished. I combined them and it got reverted. Was there a vote already that I hadn't seen or is there another reason as to why they havent been merged? Purpilia 05:28, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

  • I would imagine because the Jedi Praxeum has more to do with the actual academy that Luke Skywalker runs, not so much the building it is housed in. Toprawa and Ralltiir 05:33, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
    • Okay but both articles say the Jedi converted the Temple into the Praxeum. I just dont understand how one is not synonymous with the other, The praxeum isnt just a single room in a vast building. Its a school established within an abandoned building, using the unused rooms for its purposes. So I understand wanting to call it the Great Temple, but how is it that the Great Temple isnt the Praxeum? Purpilia 05:42, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
      • In the same way that a university isn't exactly the classroom buildings in which students are taught? Toprawa and Ralltiir 05:45, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
        • Is it still called the Great Temple in the sources in which it is also called the Praxeum? Purpilia 05:48, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
          • Yes, considering that you've apparently stumbled upon this dilemma while going through CSWE. From the book's "Great Temple" entry: "Luke set up the Jedi praxeum in the Great Temple." And, the book provides a separate "Jedi praxeum" entry: "The name chosen by Luke Skywalker to describe the Jedi training facility he established on Yavin 4..." This sounds to me like it's "the Jedi Praxeum at the Great Temple." I see no reason to combine articles on what are essentially two different entities, a school and a structure. And I'll reiterate my university simile: it's possible to study, for example, at a university's School of Mathematics in Joe Johnson Memorial Hall. They're not the same thing. Toprawa and Ralltiir 05:58, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
            • Than why isnt the rebel base a separate article? See its not so much I dont understand what your saying when you compare it to a university, but other articles dont seem to follow this trend. Such as the Senate Rotunda article; why isnt there a separate article for its reconstruction under a new regime and new design? Its still in the same structure but totally different. Or the New Jedi Temple and the Temple of the Sith, arguably two different buildings. Maybe I am totally off base with these comparisons, I dont know, but I still just dont see why they arent combined. Purpilia 06:10, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
              • Than why isnt the rebel base a separate article? Because no one has put forward the initiative? Just because something is a certain way doesn't mean Wookieepedia stands behind it as law. You would probably be ok getting away with turning the "Massassi Station" redirect into a separate article for the command base within the temple proper. Toprawa and Ralltiir 06:18, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
                • There's a nice discussion about this found here, and I agree with Gonk. Toprawa and Ralltiir 06:21, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
                  • Okay, I am sorry but I still dont understand why they are separated. But its okay, I am moving on to other articles, and it no longer concerns me, (until, of course I make it to Section "J"). But thanks for trying to help me understand! Purpilia 06:27, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
