John D and Naytaan[]

Before you change the image, read this blog, in which a photo of Naytaan is compared with one of Jack Klaff. They are the same person. Since Jack Klaff also plays John D, he and Naytaan are identical. Most likely, Decipher used Klaff's likeness as Naytaan, not knowing that the character already had a name. • Yes, that's true, but going by the CCG, Naytaan is the guy we see in the film. I would suggest moving this image to the Behind the scenes section, and explaining the confusion. Having the image up where it is will just confuse people. --JMM 15:48, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Article in Star Wars Insider 32[]

The Star Wars Fan Club magazine Star Wars Insider Issue 32 had an article titled Rebel Pilot's Reunion in which Jack Klaff was interviewed. He claims that his scenes in the film were completely cut. Since the scenes involving the pilot known as Naytaan were seen in the original film release, and not added into the Special Edition, there is no way that the actor referred to is Jack Klaff. Jack Klaff mentioned in this article that he had bragged to his friends about being in the film, only to be surprised to see that his scenes were cut upon first viewing the film himself. The character of Naytaan was probably played by an uncredited actor who bears slight resemblance to Jack Klaff. Bcmyodaman74 16:16, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

  • I'd hate to dispute the actor's own memory, but this Starwars.com blog here includes a link to this comparison photo that shows Jack Klaff in a James Bond film, and Lt. Naytaan. It does look a helluva lot like the same guy to me. This would all be a lot easier if George Lucas had paid attention to this stuff during filming! Or at least wrote it down somewhere. --JMM 23:02, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
John D is in George Lucas's novel, too. I don't have a copy anymore :-( Benkarnell 22:52, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

This Isn't the Petition Response You're Looking For[]

Did anyone else notice that the person who wrote the petition to the US government to build a Death Star signed his name "John D."? Coincidence? I think not.

Worthy of a note on the John D. Branon page, I think!

  • It should only be mentioned in the behind the scenes if an official source confirms there is a connection between the two. Happy editing, Supreme Emperor (talk) 19:57, January 12, 2013 (UTC)
  • After all, it's not like "John D." is a common name (sarcasm intended). I call it a coincidence, nothing more. Grand Moff Tranner Imperial Department of Military Research (Comlink) 20:44, January 12, 2013 (UTC)
