Does anyone know if these are based on anything in the real world? Lucas rarely adds something like this without seeing it IRL first. --193.71.103.180 18:33, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
I'd guess that they are based on kilts. TheCoolestDude 01:40, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Hm...well some people who wear sweatshirts may sometimes take them off and tie the sweatshirt around their waist when their hot. This is somewhat like kamas. Marco Lam

They maybe inspired by any number of real life armour styles:
It is also possible that they are based on winter uniforms from WWII. Although these are merely heavy trench coats, they do look very similar.--CT-1987 18:37, January 6, 2010 (UTC)

Edit
On the Clone assassin (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Clone_assassin) article, under equipment, it says "The assassins wore parted kamas". My question is: Are kamas ALWAYS parted? Because if they are, then the "parted" is superfluous and, in my opinion, sounds kind of bad. It's like saying "stiletto shoes with heels".WIERDGREENMAN 04:29, December 24, 2010 (UTC)
- No, kamas aren't always parted. You can see the different styles of kamas on the Advanced Recon Commando article, where they range from half-kilts to the parted design more similar to chaps. Bella'Mia 04:46, December 24, 2010 (UTC)
