Talk:List of books

Back to page

Before I begin adding each individual issue, could someone tell me the exact name of the Marvel Star Wars series of comics? --Imperialles 18:49, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • I believe it is simply "Star Wars"--Eion 21:31, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Split? Edit

Is it possibly time to split this article (into list of comics, list of novels and short story collections, etc.)? It's a bit long. Silly Dan 01:59, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • I think a good comprehensive list is due. I think we shouldn't get too split crazy--Eion 04:00, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)

In that case, it should be renamed "List of publications". A comprehensive list is good, but there's nothing bad about having a Comic page that goes into greater detail. --SparqMan 04:34, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • I have revamped the List of Comics page, does anyone think that it is a good idea for the comics portion of this article just to say see List of Comics? OOM-30 17:30, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
    • I think it's nice to have this complete list. I'll put a main article link over the comics section in this page though. Adamwankenobi 17:38, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
  • I for one, feel that this page is too lengthy for just "books". As I mentioned in my comment below, I think that perhaps we should mirror the style of the timeline pages; i.e. - break it down to books, comics, films, television series, & video games, as well as perhaps separate lists for adult novels & young adult books. A comprehensive list of all publications/releases might be nice, but I would put forth that it should not be split at all, and should be relatively all-inclusive (basically, everything short of action figures and other toys should be included.) I think that once you break it down to books and comics (as this page is currently), the comics ought to be split off, as has been done with the timeline page. --daNi 14:17, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Order Edit

Should we sort this after IU or OOU chronology, or alphabetically? --Imperialles 18:54, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • Alpabetically seems easiest. A Chronology listing is better suited to covering the sequence of events.--Eion 19:23, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)
    • A list of books in publication order would also be helpful. --SparqMan 21:24, 4 Jan 2006 (UTC)

Publication order would be VERY useful. I've been looking for such a list for the last month and haven't found anything.

  • I prefer chronological order. It makes sense for the uses of this encyclopedia. Adamwankenobi 03:53, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
  • I agree with SparqMan, we need a publication-order list of all books - we already have an in-universe chronological list of books (Timeline of Books), no need to repeat it here.

It's up to debate what to include in this list, but perhaps we should mirror all our in-universe timelines with an equivilent real-world timeline of publication; then, we can just have a little message at the top of all timeline pages (very akin to the "You may be looking for:" box), saying: "This timeline is sorted chronologically according to real-world publication (or release) date. You may be looking for this timeline, sorted chronologically according to in-universe date" (or vice versa, depending on the page.)

As for the alphabetical idea, what purpose does that have? If someone is trying to find a book, wouldn't it be easier to just search for the title? Maybe I'm wrong, but I think we only need the IU and OOU timelines. --daNi 13:56, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Does anyone have a list of these chronological by publication date? EChuTa! 19:21, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Authors Edit

Why do some have authors listed and others don't? It should be consistent.211.30.75.248 05:29, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Red Links Edit

The stubs for the Star Wars Adventure Game Books (Hunt the Sunrunner, etc.) already exist if someone can link them. Also, isn't there a book called "The Gospel According to Star Wars" ? Or is that something else? Corellian Premier 18:44, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Clone Wars Rationalization Edit

I wanted to rationalize my placement of the upcoming Karen Traviss novel Star Wars: The Clone Wars Book 1. Nowhere has it been said when the story takes place, but we can form deductions on when it is based on what knowledge already exists.

Tmanarl 17:20, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Tmanarl

Aren't the Clone Wars novels/movie/tv series basically replacing existing canon? For example, the Battle of Christophsis (featured in the Clone Wars film) occurs in 22 BBY, according the article on it here on Wookiepedia, so I replaced the novel series in 22 BBY (No Prisoners is sometime around 22 BBY, so I put it in 21 BBY for now.) Etan O'Hara 20:24, 6 December 2008

I am not too pleased with the placement of The Clone Wars but, according to the timeline in the third book in the Coruscant Nights Trilogy The Clone Wars is accurately placed. I have just started reading Wild Space and it said that Anakin was knighted three weeks after The Battle of Geonosis. I think The Clone Wars is making its own story which I am not too crazy about. I would agree with its placement after Jedi Trial because at the end of that book is when Anakin is knighted, just after The Battle of Praesitlyn. However, according to Del Rey Books, The Clones Wars falls after Republic Commando, Hard Contact.Mithraw7 13:00, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Red links tag Edit

I'm going to remove the redlinks tag at the top of the page, since there's only 13 redlinks out of the hundreds of links in this article. I couldn't find an official policy on what defines "excessive" redlinks, but I don't think that 13 out of 100s constitutes excessive. Esahr 05:19, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

crosscurrent Edit

Is there confimation on Crosscurrent being in the Legacy Era? That makes no sense since it's supposed to feature the Great Hyperspace War, which is more than 5,000 years before the Legacy Era. Jaden Korr is also supposed to be a lead character! How is that even possible? Flashbacks? Etan O'Hara 20:24, 6 December 2008

SW BooksEdit

I've got a question. Some years back I found a wonderful book that had diagrams and schematics of Echo Base, The Skywalker farm, the Cantina and other locations, but I don't recall the name of it. Does anyone know which book it was? Thor2000 16:36, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Inside the Worlds of Star Wars Trilogy? --Craven 14:17, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure that's it. The book I recall had schematics much like the "Guide to the Star Wars Universe" books with a layout of the Echo Base hangar, the interior of the cantina and floorplans of the Skywalker farm. The book you ponted out is more like the cross sectuons book, but I'll check it out anyway. Thor2000 17:35, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
Hmmm.. maybe the Technical Journals, I remember that those included some floorplans --Craven 15:09, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Merge sections Edit

Is it possible to maybe merge the young readers books with the other novels and rename the novels section as book timeline. I'll be willing to help do this. If no answer by anyone, I'll go straight ahead and do it. --Vitas 07:14, October 6, 2009 (UTC)

UpdateEdit

  • How is this organized? The top says chronogologically, but we have Marvel Star Wars before Tales of the Jedi. Also, could someone verify that TotJ tpbs are in the correct order?
  • Should we include one-shots (Star Wars: Purge) or omnibuses? Corellian Premier 23:13, March 2, 2010 (UTC)

What?Edit

Is it possible to get the list of books and timeline of books to have the same info? Like Black Orchid. List says it is 1BBY, timeline says it is 4000BBY. Which is it?

the great sith jedi war novels Edit

Im looking for any novels about the great war between the jedi and the sith during the old republic, this would be pre Darth Bane. Thanks any help is appreciated.

Pool of Knowledge Edit

Will we ever know who Jacen saw sitting on the throne when he looked into the pool of knowledge? Who do you think he saw, was it himself? Did he set himself on a path to his own destruction so he couldnt sit on the throne?

If I recall correctly, Vortex pretty clearly states that he saw the same as Luke did, i.e. Allana. Regards SoWhy 22:49, December 10, 2010 (UTC)
No Luke saw Allena, Jacen saw a Hooded Man, Luke askes Jacen at The Lake where they are seeing all their dead loved ones. Luke asked jacen who he saw sitting on the throne and Jacen says dont worry it wasnt you. But Jacen is pleased when Luke tells him that now Allena is on the Throne surounded by friends. And in Vortex Abeloth says that Jacen has changed the future and Allana isnt the one whos suposed to be sitting on the Throne.

The Jedi Path Edit

Just browsing through this, and I notice that "The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force" is missing, and am curious where that would fit in. Under reference sections? I only ask because I'm curious in at least knowing about all the reference books, though I'll most likely not read every single one of them.

Comics split? Edit

This was discussed on here ages ago. Should the comics all just be contained to the List of comics page now? This is very long, and it seemed like there was a consensus on it back then. I can make the changes, too. --JMM 16:07, May 13, 2011 (UTC)

Indicator Edit

Should we find A way to show which books have been published and which haven't been published yet? I think that some link to the page of forthcoming books would be good. So give we some ideas. Darth Needham 03:28, June 2, 2011 (UTC)

Art and Making of Books Edit

Where do The Art and Making of Star Wars: The Old Republic and The Art and Making of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed books go? I didn't see them in the list. Should they go under Art or Making Of?
