Range? Edit

200 meters optimun, 600 maximum? That does not match with nearly any descriptions of the weapon: ANH has the targeting computer with a range of hundreds of kilometers. The X-Wing game series and books use 2.5 Km as lockon range for fighter targets and 6 Km for capital ships. Rogue Squadron gives the number of 30 seconds or 14 Km straightline in atmosphere. Dark Tide had torpedoes travelling in a partial orbit or Ithor.

Range Issue Edit

I concur on the range issue, the range for an fighter targeting array to lock on for a torpedo salvo is 2 kilometres, but they have been used at far far longer ranges, I believe it is 14km, with the weapons in Dark Tide not being under power for the majority of the flight, much like modern Air to Air missiles are not actually under power for the majority of the flight to target unless the target is at relatively short range. 86.15.155.83 18:18, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

• I would like to add that it would be impossible to destroy the first Death Star with a range like that. The torpedoes would need to have a range of almost 800 kilometers to get to the core. Then again, maybe the Death Star's gravity well had an effect, and, as you saw in Episode IV, the torpedoes have a way of manuvering from straght through the trench to suddenly going down into the exaust port, because the exaust port is angled a bit. So maybe it's not impossible for these torpedoes to destroy the Death Star. But that doesn't solve the issue with other, in-space targets. 68.41.61.139 16:35, July 3, 2010 (UTC)
