Main image
Edit
I'd prefer a picture of Akbar as the main pic, instead of the two current animated calamarians. —Unsigned comment by 24.62.14.253 (talk • contribs).
- But then you wouldn't see the difference between male and female members of the species. Individuals shouldn't be placed as the main pic of their species, as a sense of favoritism in the wiki. Remember this is from an In-universe perspective. -- Riffsyphon1024 19:05, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
I dislike the current main image. it shows an individual (albeit unidentified) and those feet, and that hair stuff... never seen it on a mon cal before.Gnost-Dural 15:08, June 17, 2010 (UTC)
lifespan
Edit
i was just wondering if anybody knew what the average life span for a Mon Calamari was. Ugluk 7 August 2006
- According to the Ultimate Alien Anthology: Mon Cals are considered adults at 17, and "venerable" at 80. So, I would assume their lifespan is comparable to Humans. —Silly Dan (talk) 12:06, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- Humans live to around 100 in Star Wars, and so I would say that, just comparing two admirals, Pellaeon and Ackbar, that Mon Cals live shorter lives than humans. Gilad was killed at age 92, and he showed no inclination to be sick or dying, and so I must say that he would have lived a bit longer. Ackbar died at 74. 18 years younger than Pellaeon. 98.134.144.62 06:16, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Finned Feet
Edit
If their legs and feet are really supposed to be finned, they would have difficulty fitting into such clothes. Not necessarily,if,they are Chondryichthyoids(Cartilaginous),and not Osteoichthyoid(bonefish),their fins/flippers would be malleable and ductile enough,to fit into, properly lubricated footwear, that would make their shoes indistinguishable from those whose feet are comprised of unwebbed pods and digits. - I agree. Also, remember that this is the Star Wars galaxy! Mon Calamarians (and for that matter any species) could quite possibly have special material that conforms to their bodies. I say remove the sentence. Jorrel

- My thinking exactly, Sochwa.Tocneppil 08:49, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe it might be best to call revisionism for what it is, "revisionism", and simply say Mon Calamari anatomy was radically changed after the events of "Squid Lake" on Coruscant in "Revenge of the Sith". -- Frank V Bonura 01:35, March 27, 2011 (UTC)
KotOR
Edit
Anyone knows that Mon Calamari is mentioned in KotOR by a Sith Soldier win conversation with Revan..? —Unsigned comment by 212.76.37.144 (talk • contribs).
Italian
Edit
"Mon Calamari" can be literally translated in Italian as "my squid". "
I don't speak Italian very well, but I strongly doubt the above statement is true. "mon" is rather french for "my" if the subject is male and singular. Italian for my would be "mi". LelalMekha 17:27, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Look at a sushi resteraunt menu. It says "Calamari". Order it, you get raw squid.

Holiday Special, The Story of the Faithful Wookiee
Edit
Does anyone want to watch this video and tell me if what I see is a Mon Calamari? If it is, the Star Wars Holiday Special would be a possible first appearance of this species. It's 2:02 into this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXN7o6w94YM&feature=PlayList&p=0D62D1683A979317&index=6 . --Axinal 06:48, January 20, 2010 (UTC)
- No, I don't think this is one. Not at all ; I think what you saw as the eyes were headphones, and the face seems to be somthing like a furry mammal with a snout. LelalMekha 15:24, September 4, 2010 (UTC)
- I agree what appear to be eyes are actually an old bulky 70's styled headset. The race appears to be some sort of short-haired cat race. -- Frank V Bonura 01:28, March 27, 2011 (UTC)
