AppearancesEdit

Um, there were no clawcraft in SotP/VotF - those were scoutships with a rather different wing/engine configuration - and two-seaters, IIRC. Also, the upgraded Clawcraft seen from DJ onwards have navacomps. --McEwok 00:31, 10 Sep 2005 (UTC)

  • To whoever was asking about the wings opening and closing like the ones on an X-wing: the NEGtVV's entry on the Nssis says that "even minute adjustments to the position of a single arm will result in sharp turns and other sudden manoeuvres"; in Red Sky, Blue Flame, Jag is made to "spread four sweeping weapon arms into firing position. These framed the pod, splaying out in a formation similar to that of an X-wing's s-foils" (though as it says in the article, it's by no means certain that the Clawcraft in that story are Nssis-class fighters)... --McEwok 23:10, 12 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Would the clawcraft count as a TIE variant?

The Clawcraft should be a TIE variant because the Chiss took the Empire's TIE design and built upon it creating an extremely superior craft.----Anonymous SW Nerd

  • I agree that this should be in the TIE variants category. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem.svg 20:11, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
  • This IS a TIE variant. It is a variant of the TIE series of starfighters. It retains both (2) hallmarks of that series of fighter: the classic ball cockpit, and the Seinar Ion Engine, for which the series is named. --Thorvindr 12:48, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

I agree that this vehicle shouldn't be in the TIE variants catagory unless it was produced or designed by the SFS.

I read in Survivor's Quest that another type of Chiss fighter was encountered, and fought in the Battle of the Redoubt. Ain't a Clawcraft, since that one carried missiles. What was it? 82 Airborne 00:21, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Number of lasers - four or six? Edit

The fighter's write-up in the New Essential Guide to Vehicle and Vessels raises the question of how many lasers are on the Clawcraft. The text says four lasers are on it (one for each weapons arm), but the schematic shows the two ports beneath the cockpit as laser cannons too (though the text doesn't). So are there four lasers on this thing, or six?

First Appearance?Edit

Wouldn't the first appearence technically be Spectar of the Past? Seeing as it was written before Dark Tide II plus the fact that chronologically, SOTP happens before DTII.--LtCol. JuiceStain 18:03, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Hyperdrive Edit

Is it really possible for a hyperdrive to fit in a clawcraft when there isn't one in a v-wing which is larger? Lieutenant J.J 09:03, 19 October 2008 (UTC) Lieutenant J.J

It depends on which V-Wing you're talking about. The Starfighter was an older design, and a hyperdrive couldn't fit, or at least one powerful enough to get it going to its destination before its meager 15 hours of consumables ran out, which would limit it to a very short range. The Airspeeder was... well, an Airspeeder. So it didn't need hyperdrive anyway, since it was built primarily for atmospheric combat. --72.211.140.31 05:40, June 19, 2010 (UTC)

warheadsEdit

what source says that they have warhead launchers? Asdf1239 05:53, February 14, 2010 (UTC)

As far as the Clawcraft being original but looking like a TIE cockpit Edit

First, it could have been easier to design. But at the same time, in universe, the Ciss could be pulling a Japan, in WWII the Empire of Japan stole the look of many German arms. From one of their planes, to the Nambu having the same look as the P08 Luger. The difference here is that the Chiss not only copied exterior looks, they made the inside better. It could also be that the Chiss and the Empire reached a conclussion that the cockpit design was efficient for visibility completely independently.--Allurade Dendra 01:11, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

More than one kind?Edit

The craft that Mara and Luke use to escape from the Hand of Thrawn on p464 of Vision of the Future is described as a fair bit bigger than the Nssis-class, in that it has a separate flight deck, a droid alcove, and a co-pilot seat. Are they in fact using this craft, or something larger I haven't been able to identify? 108.7.213.217 04:51, March 12, 2011 (UTC)

From what you are describing, they are actually using the Jade's Fire. Zeta1127 of the 89th Legion (talk) 05:05, March 12, 2011 (UTC)
No, they're using a craft they stole from the fortress' hanger bay. (Shortly thereafter Mara uses the beckoncall to summon the Fire from space.) The craft in question is definitely a vaguely TIE-fighter-ish Nssis craft, it's just described as bigger than a TIE "ball" could be. 108.7.213.217 04:12, March 13, 2011 (UTC)

Name Edit

Are you sure that "Clawcraft" is to be capitalized? I placed a {{Confirm}} tag, just to be sure.—TK-999 Era-imp.png(Rise of the Empire) 19:28, June 6, 2011 (UTC)
