Spelling?Edit

My copy of Galaxy Guide 4 has "Ortolans". I'm adding a redirect, but if Ortoloan is a typo rather than an alternate spelling...Silly Dan 22:19, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)

• I checked on Google, and searching for <Ortolan "Star Wars"> gets 863 hits, while searching for <Ortoloan "Star Wars"> only gets 10. I don't know how reliable Google is in the case of obscure Star Wars races, but I'd go with "Ortolan". -- Aidje 23:04, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • To my knowledge, I've never seen "Ortoloan." It's "Ortolan" in the Essential Guide to Alien Species, Ultimate Alien Anthology, and Star Wars Encyclopedia. JSarek 23:32, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Grey OrtolanEdit

I noticed that the Grey Ortolan at the bottom of the page appears to lack the large ears of the Ortolans, and also appears to have a four digit hand (3 fingers and a thumb) which are rather large, unlike that of other Ortolans... is it possibly a subspecies or even a separate one entirely? • There are lots of discrepancies in alien appearances in Star Wars, especially in the comic books. I'd just consider that Ortolan another member of the species with a phenotype unlike what we've seen elsewhere. We can't say it's a separate subspecies without confirmation from a canon source, though. ~Savage 15:09, May 12, 2011 (UTC)

SWTOR Edit

I've only come across one Ortolan so far in SWTOR, but I'll note others as I meet them in the game. This first one is playing what looks to be a Red Ball Jet Organ in the band at Nemro's Palace on Hutta.
