I was thinking of redirecting 'privateer' here, but I was wondering if the Star Wars universe makes a distinction between pirates and privateers, or uses the term interchangably. In our world, privateers are privately owned ships employed by a nation in wartime to prey on enemy ships, whereas pirates aren't government sanctioned and can attack in peacetime. If there is a distinction in Star Wars, I'll add a section to the article explaining it. --Fade 10:05, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • Actually, I think we've put all professions (e.g. smuggler, assassin, mercenary) under words for their practitioners, rather than the terms for the practices themselves (not smuggling, assassination, or, umm, mercenary work). If we're going to make this change, it should probably be consistent across the professions, which means it's probably best if brought up in the Senate Hall or on a CT thread. jSarek 03:19, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
