[edit] R2-D2 in Soul Calibur 4?

Umm... I thought I'd put this. http://i37.tinypic.com/14njpzq.jpg 202.69.180.113 01:38, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Personality

I know that droids aren't supposed to have personalities, but I think an exception can *certainly* be made with R2-D2, and I'm wondering why he doesn't have a personality section?129.107.81.12 21:24, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Well their are many specialized droid parts called personality chips.

But whether R2-D2 has a personality chip or if he just some how addapeted or/and gained pesonality. But also R2-D2 has been through ALOT of eperiance and action, in such a short amount of time. and yes tens of years is short.

Owner: "What's your name, little fellow?"
R2-D2: "THAT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. IN ANY CASE, YOUR FACIAL FEATURE SET SUGGESTS THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE THE INTELLIGENCE TO RETAIN MY NAME FOR MORE THAN A NANOSECOND. IT IS EVIDENT THAT YOU HAVE BEEN TAUGHT TO REPEAT SOUNDS YOU HAVE HEARD AND THAT YOU UNDERSTAND NEITHER THE WORDS YOU HEAR NOR THE ONES THAT EMERGE FROM YOUR MOUTH."

any idea about artoo's personality? --MuanN 18:07, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

  • It's my understanding that, provided they are given minimal or no memory wipes, most higher-level 'droids are capable of developing their own "personalities." This, of course, depends upon the sophistication of their vibro-brains coupled with years of experience. From what I've read, Artoo is never given a memory wipe in all of his long life. He has, therefore, not only developed his own personality but eccentricities akin to senility as he got on in years. Threepio is also a prime example of this electronic "evolution" of the individual 'droid. In Episode IV, he tells Luke, "I'm not much more than an interpreter and not very good at telling stories... well, not at making them interesting, anyway." By Episode VI, however, it's Threepio who sums up the experiences of the Rebel Aliance (particularly Luke, Han, Leia, Chewie, etc) in a dramatic retelling that not only involved narrative... but sound effects! It is arguable, then, that C-3PO had become prolific at story telling, the more experience he himself gained, over the years.--99.29.194.51 20:02, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Seriously, is there a canonical source for R2D2's top speed?

How fast is R2D2? What evidence is available? Sorry, I screwed up Wookipedia Etiquette before, but I am genuinely interested in this question. Hell, I'll even take anecdotal evidence AGuyWhoSeriouslyWantsToKnowIfHeCanBeatR2D2inaDecathlon 01:01, 5 March 2009 (UTC)AGuyWhoSeriouslyWantsToKnowIfHeCanBeatR2D2inaDecathlon

  • If I were to go by observation alone, Astromechs don't seem to top off at any faster than, say, the walking pace of a human. Note that, while others are running for safety, Artoo is kind of left to catch up. If I were to guess, based on my limited mechanical knowledge, I'd say his wheel servos are tipped more toward torque and power than speed. Think of an electric wheel chair or similar... not really built for speed, but for moving around otherwise "dead weight." Artoo is a little canister of processors, sensors, gears, cogs, servos, framework and various gadgets. His two, or three sets of wheels have to move that all around with little effort. So, if Wikipedia is to be trusted, the average human walks 4 to 6 miles-per-hour. I'd have to say this is around, or close to, Artoo's top speed. --99.29.194.51 20:15, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Blowing up the Droid Control Ship in Episode I

Are we sure Anakin blew up the Trade Federation Ship? Because I always thought it was R2 who piloted the Naboo starfighter, while the kid was just playing with the buttons.--Relentless666 07:32, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

  • I had thought it was Anakin, though the kid had clearly done so by happenstance... he had to fiddle with the switches to discover what they did and wound up hitting the right ones on accident... or via the Force, unknowingly. --99.29.194.51 20:07, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Abilities Controversy Section

Is the Abilities Controversy section really needed? Going to the real world, isn't it obvious that the reasons R2 doesn't have as many abilities in the Original Trilogy is because Lucas and the Star Wars production crew hadn't thought of these abilities and decided to add them to the Prequel Trilogy? Isn't the reason R2 has more maneuverability in the Prequel Trilogy because he is CG? I don't think this section is really needed but that's just my opinion. --Waffle47 03:17, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] R2D2 in my Star Trek?

As some of you may have known, J.J. Abrams hide an R2D2 easter egg within the latest Star Trek movie. Has anyone here discovered the location of such droid in a clear and unblurried picture? Unsigned comment by 4.233.115.179 (talk • contribs).

[edit] Homeworld

According to The Cloen Wars Season One DVD, Artoo's homeworld is Nubia. 65.34.3.78 01:20, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
