[edit] Against merging

We have different articles on the Galactic Senate and Imperial Senate; Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader; Republic Navy and Imperial Navy; New Republic Fourth Fleet and Galactic Alliance Fourth Fleet; I don't see how this is any different. Kuralyov 16:20, 8 Jan 2006 (UTC)

  • Agreed, though I think this article can be expanded further. Also, that image is technically of a Royal Guard, not a Red Guard - Kwenn 16:31, 8 Jan 2006 (UTC)
  • I agree with Kuralyov but have the same reservations as Kwenn KEJ 16:37, 8 Jan 2006 (UTC)
  • I disagree. There really isn't any info on the Red Guard that is separate to the Royal Guard - they have only ONE databank entry at the official site. The artificial division we are employing her is silly, IMO. QuentinGeorge 08:17, 16 Jan 2006 (UTC)
    • It's a tough call for me, but I'd have to say don't merge. Technically, they were two separate organizations. Admiral J. Nebulax 13:02, 16 Jan 2006 (UTC)
      • Why have these been merged? There is enough info to warrant to separate articles. And the Databank also has one article for the Delta-7 and Eta-2 Jedi starfighters, but we obviously are going to keep our two articles. I suggest this article be split again - Kwenn 20:28, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
        • I definitely agree. Kuralyov 20:38, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
          • I split them again - Kwenn 15:59, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
  • Why are the articles not merged? it makes no sense?bull36

[edit] Canon conflict

The article's statement that the Red Guard/Emperor's Royal Guard members did not come from the clones partially conflicts with a statement in Specter of the Past. That book has a Royal Guard member rotating back to his home unit. That was how he survived the destruction of the second Death Star. This might be explained if the stormtroopers no longer relied on clones by 4 BBY, but not otherwise. Will (talk -- contribs) 06:51, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

  • I don't see any conflict here. Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 14:36, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
    • I believe there is a conflict. In one of the more recent issues of the Star Wars magazine that states the members of the guard were selected from none clone stormtroopers. It also added a lot more information as to how they were trained. I'm not sure if what is written in the magazine is considered canon, but I'd thought I should add that bit of info. --Wolf 00:08, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
      • There's no contradiction. The character in Specter of the Past is a clone of a Guardsman, not a Guardsman who's a clone. There's a difference. -- I need a name (Complain here) 00:18, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Evolution of Armor

The Red Guards depicted in the Jedi Quest comic book actually wear red Senatorial Guard armor; should there be a section regarding this evolution of their armor? Vryce 23:14, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Sorry I'm not great at cropping on my new scanner as yet. Anyway, the crests are very prominent in each panel, especially the rearview. Vryce 03:29, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Actually, those may just be Blue Guards with red armor—they don't appear to be members of Palpatine's Red Guard. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 12:28, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
    • I'm not sure one way or the other to be honest. Given that the Red Guard were initially selected from the Blue Guard ranks, I don't think them initially wearing a red version of their former robes and armor as being illogical. But again, I'm not entirely certain. If I recall this was released before Episode II, where they show Red Guards and Senatorial guards being in existance at the same time (where it'd previously been assumed they were an evolution). Either way it's a canon source; I guess it's more of a question as to whether these are Red Guards, Senatorial Guards in red armor for some peculiar reason, or something else entirely. [edit] Red guard in Episode II?

Where are the Red guards in Episode II? I can't find them.Jacce 17:30, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

And... you can't be more accurate? I've tried so hard I can.Jacce 10:51, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
    • I can't be more accurate because I don't have time to watch the movie now. But they are at least in one scene with the Chancellor's office. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 11:55, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
    • Offhand I remember it's when Mace, Yoda, et al are in Palpatine's office (I think after learning of Amidala's survival). The Red Guards are along the walls, and somewhat blend with the red background to a degree, but they're definitely there. Vryce 21:30, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
      • Also, I believe that when Palpatine gives Anakin the "You-will-be-the-greatest-of-all-the-Jedi" talk, two Red Guards are visible near the camera. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 21:35, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
          • Thanks for all you work, I really appreciate it. I have seen two Red guard in Vryces scene (they stand at the extensions in the room, rigid as statues), but I haven't seen any in Nebulaxs scene, but it's me so... Anyway, thanks again and sorry for causing you all this trouble.Jacce 11:59, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Armor Speculation

The sentence that reads "It's also possible that Palpatine was inspired from the armor of the red-armored Sith Lord, possibly using it as a tribute." seems a bit too speculative to justify keeping it in the main body text of the article. I propose relocating it to a BTS section or something similar. Any takers? --School of Thrawn 101 11:14, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

  • I agree. Perhaps we could eliminate it altogether--sounds a bit far fetched to me. Unit 8311 11:34, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
    • I wouldn't be against that plan, in the least, as the only place I've heard this theory is this article. So, I say delete. --School of Thrawn 101 16:10, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

To me the Red guard armor looks less like the death watch armor and more like the mandalorian neo crusader.

[edit] Early Red Guards in the book Darth Bane Rule Of Two.

When Zannah gets Hetton to attempt to murder Bane,Hetton brings his Umbaran shadow Assassins it describes them on page 200 hardcover edition "Red robed figures...their identities hidden by the visors of their helmets. Each carries a long metal rod Bane recognized as a force pike".This sound just like the Royal Guard's armor to me--Bull36 19:42, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
