Republic Army
Edit
If the Republic Navy was the starfleet of the Old Republic, what was the Republic's ground forces called? Probably, the Old Republic once had an immense army when it was needed. What branch of the military would the Republic rocket-jumpers belong to? Should there be an article on the Republic Army?
Move?
Edit
Why has this been moved? I definitely think it should be moved back. It was consistently called the Republic Navy in-universe, and the only time it was ever referred to as the Old Republic Navy was by people in the Imperial era looking back. If this is going to be called Old Republic Navy, then I'll just go move Galactic Republic to Old Republic, Galactic Senate to Old Republic Senate, etc...Kuralyov 17:58, 8 Oct 2005 (UTC)
- Personally, I have no problem with those changes. I moved it to Old Republic Navy to distinguish it from the New Republic Navy. -- SFH 18:01, 8 Oct 2005 (UTC)
- But the "New Republic Navy" is the New Republic Defense Force, so I fail to see how there would be any confusion. I'm for a move back. --SparqMan 18:14, 8 Oct 2005 (UTC)
If it means that much to you guys, I'll move it back. I don't want an Edit War here. -- SFH 19:34, 8 Oct 2005 (UTC)
- It's not a personal desire as much as a need for consistency, SFH. --SparqMan 20:28, 8 Oct 2005 (UTC)
Separate Into Different Eras?
Edit
Does anyone else think that we should organize this article by chronological era? It might be confusing for readers to see ships separated by several thousand years to be placed together. JimRaynor55 18:09, 4 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- I was about to suggest something similar, so I agree. Perhaps having a parenthesis beside each vehicle either detailing the era or the years, if that's possible. I'm going to try it out here and see what people think. :) VT-16 12:52, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
- EDIT: Looking at the finished result, I think I'll modify it with sections for each era. VT-16 13:24, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
Disambig
Edit
Because of the many repetitions of ship names, quite a few articles lead to disambig pages. They should be changed to lead to the ship intended--Erl 20:08, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
old repulibic picture from kotor series
Edit
hey, which scene did that picture come from, i've been looking and couldn't find it in either games
- It is a promotional image. It has been cropped from a desktop wallpaper.–SentryTalk 04:53, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
Hang on!
Edit
It says in the Clone Wars era starfighter bit that the Republic used the TIE fighter. I've seen not one source that says the Republic used the TIE in the Clone Wars. Can somebody help here? Unit 8311 13:40, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- It doesn't say TIE fighter, it says T.I.E. starfighter. Go to the link. Kuralyov 14:20, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- Whoops, my bad. I'll change it slightly so that nobody else gets confused. Unit 8311 19:33, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Rothan Ship
Edit
The Rothan ship that escorted transports to Alderaan is put down twice, under the Clone Wars ships section. First as the Rothan Battleship and then again as the Rothan Destroyer. Which one is it?
Consular-class Cruiser
Edit
I added the armed variant of the Consular, the Republic light assault cruiser, to the Corvette sections of pre-Clone Wars and Clone Wars, but wasn't sure if the Consular itself should be removed or amalgamated with the light assault cruiser. Darth Windu
Venators in the Mandalorian Wars
Edit
On the Battle of Serroco page there's an image of....well, a Venator-class Star Destroyer. Now obviously there's differences from the Venators we see in ROTS, but this is even more blatant than Obsidian's attempt to rip-off the ISD's with their Ravager model. I guess someone should give this Venator-clone a conjectural name, slap together a page for it, and list it here? Lalala la 02:25, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
Mystery transport
Edit
There is an unnamed republic transport seen in the backround of Revenge of the Sith that isn't listed here. It was mentioned and given a name in a Star Wars magazine, but I can't remember what it was or what scene it came from. Can someone look in to that?
Clone Wars Series ships
Edit
For some reason the Venator class star destroyers we've seen in the series so far aren't listed here, such as Resolute and Tranquility. I think the list needs updating. 81.111.50.239 22:05, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Inaccuracy?
Edit
I noticed a lot of ships here were sort of sketchy as to whether they were Republic or Sith ships. When Revan came into control of the Star Forge, it was my understanding that he was a Sith, and the ships (such as the Interdictor class ship which you run into during KOTOR 1)would technically qualify as being Sith-affiliated, rather than Republic ships.
- With the exception of the barely-noted Star-Forge-manufactured Derriphan class, all the capital ships in Revan and Malak's fleet were originally of Republic design, and some of them originally served within the Republic fleet. When Revan and Malak disappeared after the Mandalorian Wars, they took a great deal (was it a third? something like that) of the Republic fleet with them, returning with it as part of their new Sith Fleet. Both the Interdictor class (ex: Leviathan) and the Centurion class (ex: Ravager...technically never part of Revan's Sith) were Republic ships. I believe it is also noted elsewhere, but this is plainly stated in the Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide for the Star Wars d20 table top RPG, specifically pages 161-163. So long story short, some that were once Republic ships essentially changed sides, and those Republic ships were used as the base design for the ones the Star Forge manufactured. - Vangardt 10:14, November 7, 2009 (UTC)
Ancient Starship designs?
Edit
I have noticed how there is no information on Republic Navy warship designs from the years c.25,000 BBY to 17,000 BBY. This is just my opinion, but who thinks that the Republic Navy was made up of Atomic rockets in that time period in between c.25,053 BBY to 17,000 BBY? It seems as it would be the only reasonable answer.
