Repulsorlift or Spaceborne?Edit

Is it confirmed anywhere that the Alliance's RTTs were indeed specially modified for space travel and the original Republic RTTs did not have that capability? I had been under the assumption that RTTs had both space and ground capabilities, but operated near the ground in the Clone Wars game so that they could be protected by ground-based escort vehicles. --Thetoastman 19:34, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

  • Well, from what I see, the Republic's RTTs were for ground combat, and the Rebellion's RTTs were for space combat. Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem.svg 21:18, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
  • But could Republic RTTs traverse space? Is there a source that states the Rebellion's were modified, or is that conjecture? --Thetoastman 18:25, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
    • Well, I suppose it is conjecture. As for the Republic RTTs, there's no source that they could travel in space. Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem.svg 18:29, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
      • Sorry to restart the discussion, but if it's not space-capable, then why has it got such a large array of engines on the back? It would only really make sense to me if this was actually space-capable but couldn't use its ion engines close to the ground (to reduce radiation & ion wash), thus explaining their astonishingly slow pace (as they would then have to use repulsorlifts only) in the Clone Wars video game. The real hitch to this one is the fact that you see them being airdropped by LAAT/c Cargo Gunships at Geonosis, when they should be able to make it under their own power. You could suggest that they were trying to be stealthy (trying to infiltrate the Petranaki Arena unnoticed), as ion engines would leave noticeable sensor emissions whereas LAAT/c jet turbines would not... but I guess that's probably a bit much for fans to try and extrapolate. The trouble is the various facts just don't mesh... CommanderJB 07:05, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
