[edit] Depiction

There seems to be an inconsistency among canon sources. In Jedi Knight, Ruusan is more desertish than green. The other pics depict Ruusan as a grassy planet. Is this worth a BtS section? - TopAce (Talk) 21:21, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

  • I thought the planet was de-forested in Jedi vs. Sith or something, by one of those Super Awesome With Seapons. Thefourdotelipsis 11:43, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
  • Just remember, canonical information should be primarily taken from the video game Dark Forces II - Jedi Knight as that is the original appearance of the planet.

[edit] Loss required Jedi to use Ilum?

It was one of the Galactic Republic's best sources of lightsaber crystals, and its loss forced the Jedi Order to rely on blue and green crystals from Ilum.

I think this statement in the article is the result of a misinterpretation of two lines in The New Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology and Jedi vs Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force.

"Prior to the Battle of Ruusan, the Jedi ignited lightsabers of every known hue, including purple, orange, and even gold." - The New Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology

"Prior to the Battle of Ruusan, the Jedi used crystals from many different sources, and ignited lightsabers in every known hue, including purple, orange, and gold. Toward the end of the Old Republic era, Ilum was the primary source of most crystals used for lightsabers; this dramatically limited the color range, as the crystals harvested from Ilum produce only green or blue blades." - Jedi vs Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force

The confusion seems to stem from the belief that the Battle of Ruusan was the cause of the Jedi relying almost exclusively on Ilum, thus Ruusan must have been another source of crystals. This is reinforced by the existence of the Ruusan crystal in some of the video games. However, in this case, the Battle of Ruusan is merely a point in time; after the Sith were believed eradicated, the Jedi slipped into complacency and dogma, using Ilum as the only source of crystals because it was easiest and they had no need to use any others.

Unless I'm mistaken and there is another source that Ruusan was a large source of lightsaber crystals? I placed a source tag so if there is, someone can reference it. Barringer 18:43, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
