Talk:Self-Propelled Medium Artillery

Back to page

  • Has anyone got a source for the name? There is no info on the official game site - Kwenn
    • Beta-version tested in the Leipzig game convention this August. The bigger part of pictures like these showed the names of the different vehicles and units. VT-16 11:31, 17 Sep 2005 (UTC)

SPHA still around?Edit

Since the SPMA walker is called 'medium' and not 'heavy', you'd think the heavy version was still around, otherwise why not call this new model 'heavy' if it matched the old one in terms of firepower? Could it be that the 'heavy' recieved a similar upgrade as well? If this "lighter" generator was scaled up to an even bigger size, I mean. Might be worth mentioning on the SPHA article. • Perhaps. Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 23:03, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
    • I put some new info re:possible GCW use in the SPHA article, hoping that it will be treated like the Enforcer/Vindicator issue, i.e. hinted at before getting a real mention. I mean, they never state the SPHA were scrapped in the SPMA OS profile, and they call it "medium artillery" walker, so that implies a heavier version still around. :) VT-16 15:11, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

The idea behind calling the SPMA medium artillery was that they had the same firepower however they had less armor and more manuverability. I aquired this from the technical specs on wiki.

Has anyone else noticed this shares the acronme with the SPMA from UT2004? Edit

  • And UT2004 is... ? Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem.svg 01:16, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
  • wikipedia:Unreal Tournament 2004. Yeah, I assumed "SP...A" was just common, like stemming from real life artillery. On another topic, I think this is strange to be labeled "-Turbolaser", because the projectiles fall quickly. Unlike lasers or even blasters. -Aiddat 01:03, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
    • Well, aren't they turbolasers and not projectiles? Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem.svg 01:07, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
      • I mean, the SPMA projectiles of EaW act like short-range shells, not lasers. — Aiddat (Holonet) (Contribs Log) NR Seal.svg 00:53, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
        • Could just be game mechanics. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem.svg 11:21, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
        • If they fall like shells, then they're the same kind of projectile like the ones in SW:CW (when the Muunilinst city gets shelled in chapter 4). VT-16 12:58, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
        • Yeah. But they've been described as turbolasers... do you know that real-life shells can go for miles? Oh well, at least it's not too late to call the Muunilinst artillery SPHA-Ms. — Aiddat (Holonet) (Contribs Log) NR Seal.svg 13:13, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
          • The SPMA was also described as modular, like the SPHA, and one of the armament types was concussion missiles. That's one type of projectile weaponry, with the shield-coated shells from SW:CW being another. Are the projectiles in EaW also green? That would be pretty much the same thing. :) VT-16 17:57, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
            • So can we say the EaW one is a SPMA-M? Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem.svg 19:47, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
              • The canonical designations known are (T - Turbolaser), (I - Ion cannon), (C - Concussion missile). The 'M' for Mass-driver is fan-interpretation, but it should be noted that it's firing projectiles and not a beam-weapon and that these don't match the three above, so it's like the ones on Muunilinst. :) VT-16 20:25, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
  • I have no idea. :P VT-16 12:13, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
  • I think the one in EaW might actually be called a SPMA-T, unfortunately. I'll check later today. — Aiddat (Holonet) (Contribs Log) NR Seal.svg 12:35, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
  • Even if it is called that, if it fires in arcs, the armament would be projectiles and not energy. In other words, a regular artillery cannon. (Well, if it's encased in an energy shield, that part would of course be energy) :p VT-16 18:40, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

FoC Edit

Two people told me not to put FoC on the original EaW stuff. T4-B article history depicts this. Zeta1127 of the 89th Legion (talk) 20:30, January 3, 2011 (UTC)
