Length?! Far Short Edit

I have a severe gripe to levy... this craft cannot be a mere 20 meters long. This is one of those WEG failures again. If we keep to the standard that the Lambda-class Shuttle is 20 meters, and has a cargo capacity of 80 metric tons, then the Sentinel-class must be longer and stouter to accomodate nearly two-and-a-half times more cargo! Visibly, the craft is longer. And if it uses the same command cabin section, which it is claimed to do, as well as how it appears to do, then we can extrapolate some lengths, and confidently project this length somewhere around 30 meters.

There is also a mangling of the length on the Delta-class_JV-7_escort_shuttle, placing it at 29.4 meters. It would seem that these lengths have been transposed, since, visibly, the Delta-class is much more along the lines of 20 meters, keeping to the same general size and frame of a Lambda-class, while the Sentinel-class would be much more comfortable at 30 meters. -- Hawke / Rtufo 17:56, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

  • So, in your esteemed opinion, what should be done about this? Should we get the "Astro-Physics Posse" (Saxton and his lot) on this? :) I may jest, but I'm serious... things like this should be fixed, and not allowed to fester, just because some game-crafters couldn't get, or keep, their $h!t together. -- Hawke / Rtufo 18:36, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
    • The nature of Wookieepedia precludes the use of any figure that hasn't been officially published. But some extremely basic pixel-scaling based on the original The Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels schematics tells me that the Sentinel could easily be anywhere from ~29 to ~45 meters long depending on whether the basic components are supposed to have more than a superficial similarity. I think I'll put the X-wing Alliance length in the main part of the page and make a "Behind the scenes" section about the confusion. —Darth Culator (talk) 19:20, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
      • Why was the length changed to 38 meters when four sources say 20 meters, as you said above? Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 20:40, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
        • 38 meters is also an officially published size, and it's the only official length that makes sense. I've been trying to map out the carrying capacity since Hawke brought up the issue, and I can't figure out how to fit 36 speeder bikes and 12 CAVs into a 20 meter Sentinel. Even if we assume the entire fuselage aft of the control pod is cargo space (with no machinery or armor, which is physically impossible), and they stack the bikes, and "CAV" is a general term for something smaller than an AT-PT, they don't all fit. So I put up the other available official length. —Darth Culator (talk) 21:18, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
          • How many sources have "38 meters"? Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 21:20, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
            • Just X-wing Alliance, as I said in the Behind the scenes section. If you think it makes sense to switch it back then I'll do so, but I seriously doubt that the Empire has TARDIS technology. —Darth Culator (talk) 21:28, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
              • Since more sources say "20 meters", I'm changing it back. Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 21:36, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
                • I changed it back to a sensible size of 38 meters. WEG shouldn't be considered a very credible source...Darth Waluigi 22:56, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

First appearance Edit

Was it SOTE or ANH? Kuralyov 04:16, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Has to be SotE. The ANH appearance was in the Special Edition. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem.svg 12:14, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
    • On that note when did it show up in the SOTE game? I remember a couple of lambdas but no Sentinel. --74.134.237.147 06:25, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
      • Hoth, maybe? Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem.svg 14:54, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
        • There's one sitting in the junkyard in the Ord Mantell level of SoTE at about 4 mins into the level. Flyamanita 15:15, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
          • Old topic, but here's the ones I remember off-hand:

1 - Gall space port. You can walk inside this one. 2 - Tatooine. One is taking off as you race through the town. Xanofar 18:49, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Apearance in battle front II Edit

in SWB II only the The theta class is seen in the game.

  • On some space levels, the Sentinel does appear. Grand Moff Tranner Imperial Department of Military Research.svg (Comlink) 23:54, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
    • Where? I don't remember this... Xanofar 18:50, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
